Fvck Tampa!!!

Fvck Tampa, a bunch a redneck fans who have no idea how to appreciate such a fine game. Tampa is a team that has little history or fan support. To be honest it would not surprise me to see the team move to another area that would support it. This is the nail in the coffin for hockey and the NHL. My condolences to Calgary you are the true champions. Such a travesty makes teams with a fan base and history like the Buffalo Sabres sick with grief.

I watched about 10 minutes of tonight's game ...

this was one of the most sickening spectacles of "sports" that I've ever seen.

Please...if all that mattered was history then we would still be playing with six teams. What a classless thing to say. When you have a team in the big leagues they should have just as much a chance and right to win a title as the teams that came before them. Not to mention what about the players, just because they ended up in Tampa they shouldn't have the right to reach the pinnacle of the game?

It is sad when fans do not show up to playoff games. This team did not just squeak into the playoffs as a seventh or eighth seed, they won the division! Why no fan base or support? The regular season was the same way. The only time they show-up is when the media discussed the Stanley Cup. I could guarantee that if one took a poll in the Florida area, less than 25% of the people could tell you what it was. Simply put a team exists where the fans do not support it. The Devil Rays are the same way. Now cities such as Toronto, Buffalo, Chicago, Calgary, and Edmonton display what it means to support a team to the nth degree. Aside from Andreychuk Tampa does not deserve this Cup, and it will be their last.

No kidding, 11th in attendance with almost 18,000 per game. And don't forget a lot of those seats are supposedly pretty bad since it is a very big stadium by NHL standards. And why weren't you here bashing the Devils fans, those are the worst supporters by far. They have a market of about 4 million people that live within 30 miles in Jersey and they can't even fill up the stadium when the opponent isn't the Rangers or Flyers. I didn't hear anyone questioning their faith when they drew 13,000 fans a game last year until they went on their playoff run. Tampa has a 22,000 seat stadium and they filled it up 90% this year, that is pretty damn good. Sure winning helps, but why do people whine about this stuff? I just don't get why certain cities aren't deserving of championships because they aren't franchises of many decades. They went out and built a great team and the fans packed the house in response. And then the team went out and won the Cup. What the hell else can they do to appease these people?

NJ Nets also have terrible attendance. Location/convenience is the problem. Meadowlands is a pain. Who wants to drive to the Meadowlands on a Tuesday or Wednesday night?

Not really an issue for NFL games, since you've only got a few Sundays to worry about.

Chicago? They were 27th in NHL attendance this year. They were 24th last year. They were 23rd in 2001-02. They were 24th in 2000-01.

We're talking about the 3rd largest city in America. You'd figure a few thousand people would accidentally wander into the arena every night.

Tampa as a result of this championship, may bring about fan support, however do not count on it. The fans did not support the team all year including the playoffs. Please explain why seats were still available during the Islanders, Montreal, and first part of the Philadelphia series. In defense of Chicago, they are a bad team, while the Lightning wavered towards the top of the league all year long.

The Meadowlands is a ridiculous place to get too. The public transportation options are pretty much nill & a huge part of the fan base would be using those means to reach an arena/stadium. MSG is perfectly located since it is right above a huge terminal in Penn Station.
