[h=2]As a photograph of Kathy Griffin hoisting the fake, decapitated head of President Donald Trump swept the Internet this week and led to her firing from CNN and the cancellation of at least one stop on her current comedy tour, one celebrity is urging Americans not to worry about it.[/h] Jim Carrey told the audience at the premiere of his new Showtime comedy series that Griffin should double down on the now-infamous photograph.

“Hold up a severed leg as well,” he advised Griffin in a speech at the event, according to People magazine. “I don’t know if it’s funny, but I don’t think the joke is the problem. Don’t worry about it. Don’t worry for your existence. All of this is meaningless… all of creation is just God’s Fidget Spinner. It’s really not important. What’s important is that we’re all here.”
The graphic photo of Griffin holding “Trump’s” head, taken during a shoot by L.A.-based photographer Tyler Shields, sparked severe backlash online and drew responses from the president and First Lady on Wednesday. Griffin was fired from her role on CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve Live broadcasts, and the Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque cancelled the comedian’s scheduled performance there. The toilet accessories company Squatty Potty also pulled its advertising campaign, in which Griffin had starred.
Still, Carrey believes that in times of political turmoil, comedians often become the only source of comfort and reassurance for concerned citizens.
“I think what happens is, when these extraordinary times politically happen, and we’re going through terror and the fear of the end, comics are the last line of defense,” he told the audience. “We tell them the truth, and we make something beautiful out of it.”
The 55-year-old actor made the comments at the premiere of the new Showtime series I’m Dying Up Here, which follows a group of young, up-and-coming comedians making their way in the comedy scene in 1970s Los Angeles. Carrey serves as an executive producer and a writer on the project.
“This is a labor of love,” he said at the event. “It was an idea that was rolling around in my head for a long time, and I really wanted to see the comedy world as it really was and the extraordinary experience that I actually was lucky enough to have.”
On Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge ruled that a wrongful death case against the actor — related to the 2015 overdose death of his ex-girlfriend, makeup artist Cathriona White — could move forward. White’s parents accused Carrey of supplying the prescription painkiller medication on which the makeup artist overdosed.
The actor has vehemently denied the claims.

Kathy Griffin accused President Donald Trump and his family of launching a campaign to destroy her life in response to the image she posted earlier this week in which she appeared to be holding the commander-in-chief's severed head.
The comedian broke down in tears as she detailed the torrent of abuse she has been receiving online, and the constant death threats which she described as detailed and specific.
She stated however that she will not back down from this fight, saying: 'I am not afraid of Donald Trump. He is a bully.'
Later in the interview Griffin said that her career was likely over now as a result of this incident, and that President Trump had 'broke' her, moments after she declared: 'There's a bunch of old white guys trying to silence me!'
Griffin at another point in the press conference declared that this would not be happening to her if she was a 'white man.'
Her lawyer Lisa Bloom also suggested at one point during the press conference that despite reports, Barron was likely not that upset after seeing the image of Griffin with the decapitated head by stating the child was 'allegedly' traumatized.
It was also confirmed at the press conference that the Secret Service is investigating Griffin over the image, with the median saying: 'Yeah I might get arrested today. I don't care.'

Aggressors: Griffin declared at one point: 'There's a bunch of old white guys trying to silence me!'

'I am really nervous, I have never done a press conference,' said Griffin after she was introduced by her lawyer.
After making a few jokes and stating that she stands by the apology she released earlier this week, Griffin said: 'The president and his grown children and the first lady are personally trying to ruin my life forever.'
She then went back to that notion a few moments later, speaking in disbelief as she reiterated her claim that 'this president of all people is going to come after' an 'obnoxious comedian.'

'I am going to make fun of him more now,' said Griffin of President Trump

Griffin also tried to explain the reason behind the photo and video shoot by saying: 'I am not good at being appropriate.'
That became clear soon after when she announced that she would not stop attacking President Trump just because he had targeted her.
'I am going to make fun of him more now,' said Griffin.
She then made a point of adding: 'I am not going to threaten him, I have no desire to harm him.'
Griffin was also ready with some thoughts on why President Trump had elected to attack her while his son Don Jr. called for her to be fired from her jobs.
'They are using me as the shining object so no one talks about his FBI investigation,' said Griffin.
She then revealed that all she wanted to do was get back to work, something that is becoming difficult with five venues cancelling her show in the wake of the incident.
'I'm not for everybody,. I am barely an acquired taste frankly,' admitted Griffin.
'I've had everybody turn on me. And I just want to make people laugh.'
That being said, Griffin declared: 'I am not laying down for this guy.'
She later added towards the end of the press conference: 'It's a good time to be a comedian but a scary time to be a citizen.'

Kathy Griffin is holding a press conference on Friday to complain about the “bullying from the Trump family that she has endured” following the release of a photo spread showing the comedian holding up a bloodied head of President Trump.

Lisa Bloom, the daughter of famed feminist litigator Gloria Allred and Griffin’s newly hired lawyer, made the shocking announcement on Twitter.

Kathy Griffin's remaining tour gigs have been cancelled in the wake of her scandalous photo shoot showing her holding a bloodied replica of President Donald Trump's severed head.
The last venue of seven upcoming show dates, the Uptown Theatre in Napa, California, just cancelled her show scheduled for June 17, it announced on its Facebook page.
The Uptown cancelled after her press conference, in which she said that Trump 'broke' her and that 'There's a bunch of old white guys trying to silence me!'

The Uptown Theater in Napa announced that it was cancelling Kathy's tour date

Most of the people commenting on the Napa venue's Facebook wall agreed with the decision.
'WELL DONE!! Especially after her stupid news conference today defending her actions,' wrote Theresa Coolong.
'Thank you for standing up for decency and respecting America,' said Marsha Mirachi.
But a few disagreed with the decision.
'In the future will the uptown refuse to book any performers with any type of criminal background? Substance abuse? Domestic assault? Or just comedians who make ill advised jokes?' asked Tom Neuerberg.
'Who are the snowflakes now? Folks were burning & hanging the last president in effigy for eight years,' wrote Richard Selleseth.

The Route 66 Casino Hotel near Albuquerque, New Mexico canceled Griffin's planned stand-up appearance on July 22 shortly after she released the damning photographs

That follows six other cancellations for her Celebrity Run-Ins Tour, including the bergenPAC in New Jersey, which cancelled a few hours before her dramatic press conference.
She also lost a Route 66 Casino gig, two California shows, and two New Jersey gigs.
Griffin was at the tail end of a 50-date tour, otherwise she surely would have lost more revenue.
Even Minnesota Democratic Sen. Al Franken disinvited her from an upcoming book event.
Originally, he defended Griffin, saying, 'I think she did the right thing,' he said of Griffin's eventual apology. 'I think asking for forgiveness and acknowledging that this, this was a horrible mistake.'
But the heat got to be even too much for him and he said 'it would be best' if she didn't come to the event in his hometown, according to Politico.

President Trump weighed in Wednesday morning on Kathy Griffin's tasteless video – and he pronounced it 'sick'

'After hearing from many Minnesotans who were rightfully offended, I've come to the conclusion that it would be best for her not to participate in the event we had previously scheduled. I understand why Minnesotans were upset by this, and I take that very seriously,' he said.
CNN also announced it had fired Griffin from her annual gig co-hosting its New Year's Eve program with network anchor Anderson Cooper.
'CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year's Eve program,' the network's PR department tweeted.
