Funny arguement I had this morning about Obama and getting the black-vote during his first election.

Even though I don't play party sides (I believe the Republican and Democrat parties are just a sham... same shit, different pile), I had some fun with someone I met at Lake Mead this morning while fishing.

They brought up politics and such, and I told him my views on how this country was headed, and how I disagreed with over half of the things Obama has done to this point. He said that most people who don't like Obama or didn't vote for him were closet racists. Mind you, he supported Obama and voted for him twice. While I didn't vote for Obama, I did vote 1 time for Ron Paul, and didn't vote the second election.

I brought up that Obama got the racist vote in the first election, during the primaries when he went against Hillary Clinton, when he got close to 90% of the black vote. His great mind came up with this spectacular answer as to why he got almost 90% of the black vote...... "Cause black people almost always vote Democrat.

At this point, I actually did face-palm myself, and gave him a blank stare cause my mind was a complete blank... could he really be that stupid?

Finally I responded with "Hillary is also a Democrat, so can you explain why he got most of the black vote over Clinton? They both ran on basically the same platforms concerning the economy, healthcare, jobs, etc..., the biggest difference was basically the color of their skin"

His answer was "They voted for Obama because of his experience, that's why".

That pretty much ended the discussion on politics, and we started talking about sports, and betting, and such... was a nice enough guy, but not to bright when it came to politics I assumed.

Just thought it was a funny story to share with you guys, and hope you guys got a good laugh out of it.

It was even worse than that! If you google the North Carolina exit polls for the 2008 Democratic Presidential primary Obama received 97% of the male black vote Mrs. Clinton 2%. That primary was singularly significant in propelling Obama to the nomination.

My only problem is statistics are not on your side. If putting up a black man for president is all that's necessary to win elections or primaries, there would be a lot more than one black president in our history. Obama won because he's charismatic, intelligent, and people flat out like him. Same reason why Bill Clinton won. Hillary lost because she ran a horrible campaign from start to finish.

Hillary lost for one reason and one reason only. Her Iraq vote. Her general hawkishness doomed her. Obama was on the right side of that, very early on, and Hillary was on the wrong side. If she voted against it, she would have been President in 2008. She couldn't get away from it, Obama used it brilliantly, besides all the other positives he brought to the table, and it doomed her even before Obama was in the race. It was the biggest issue back then, and biggest difference between the candidates.

Another reason was equally important. Obama's strategy in the caucus states, he won every one of them except as I recall Nevada & in a fight for delegates which was as close as any primary fight since Ike & Taft in 52 that put Obama over the top. The funny part of that was that these states
like Idaho, Nebraska, Alaska, Kansas, Maine, were won by Republicans in the general. Mrs. Clinton won every big state the Democrats got the electoral vote to win in except Illinois!

AHHH... ok. So African-Americans were the only ones who as a majority of race, saw that Hillary ran a horrible campaign.

I guess the Hispanics, Asians and Whites just couldn't see it. Since neither over them voted overwhelmingly for either candidate. Neither candidate received 60 of either vote from the other races... just the black vote went overwhelmingly for Obama.

It had nothing at all to do with race.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

If all it took to win a Democratic Primary was to be Black, we'd have had candidate and possibly President Chisholm, Jackson and Sharpton before Obama. While race certainly was a big factor in Obama's win, I think Hillary would have easily overcome it if not for her Iraq vote. That's what sunk her, IMO, plus Obama was an impressive campaigner.

Soros wanted Hillary over Obama but when he saw what was coming he jumped ship. Of course he wanted a Dem no matter what but the Republicans were doomed after all the Bush Bashing. It was inevitable either Hillary or Obama were going to win, the Rep's never had a chance. Obama is backed into the same corner that Bush was back then and Hillary may get the same residual as Obama bashing is becoming much more prevalent since Obamacare etc. It is not to her advantage that she has a record to run on which could hurt her whereas Obama was a virtual unknown.
