How much do they bet? dimes?

One is a fairly small bettor. Bets a ton of in game action.

The other guy is unreal. Could be up or down 50 grand in any given week. Both bet sports and horses.

Viejo once told me in an email that gambling for a living is a pretty hard thing to do so I quit even thinking about it. Very few can do it.

VD, are you going down to Costa Rica as well during your trip to the states?

@QL: Maybe VD was just lying in that mail and instead just trying to keep you from turning pro, so that there was at least one less sharp guy dabbling in opening lines :grandmais

Did it for 2 years playing poker. Not worth it.... You end up working 50-100 hours a week to make the same as a decent 9-5. I played 2/5 an 5/10 NL Holdem and found 2/5 to be more profitable. I enjoyed it for the first year and was deff a learning experience and would do it again if I was forced to. but I would never recommend anyone leaving a full time decent paying job to do it. Just not worth it IMO.

Nearly 20 years now averging over 100k per year...........plus a wide arrary of food comps and lovely parting gifts.

The majority of my other professional gambler friends do better than me, I'm basically just a mid-roller.

Nice!! What type of gambling are you doing to make a living? The only two that I would think could be profitable are poker and sports handicapping.

I have been living off gambling for 6-7 years now, almost all from poker but I'm starting to switch to sports betting, my passion for poker has gone down and my sports betting passion has gone way up the last few years. It probably is one of the professions that takes the most self discipline out there and it took me 3-4 years to really control my urges. You have to steadily educate and control yourself. This is probably the most frustrating job a guy can have but it can be quite fulfilling at the same time as you get rewarded by +EV plays in the long run.
