Agree. Seems like they had to keep them in the final 4 with 29 wins. Just a bad choice.

How could you leave the defending champs out when they were the only team to finish undefeated in the regular season? Regardless of how they won, they did what no other team did & that was win every game they played during the season. The argument should be that the field needed to be bigger, not that they did not belong in the Top 4.

I agree that they were not a top four side, but being undefeated, a major program and from a major conference is an automatic invite.

Expanding the field is a terrible decision IMO as it would nearly completely eliminate the importance of the regular season and turn many conference championship games into pre-season, meaningless match ups. I can't recall a season ever where the seventh, eighth best teams are deserving of a playoff appearance because they already lost to teams in the playoff.

Just my $0.02

Four teams is enough.

You guys are tap dancing around the problem with is this.....

The ratings basically start from pre-season and run from there. This year (and often) the early ratings were way off. No way FSU deserved to EVER. be ranked was high as they were. The shit about consecutive wins.... last year champs..... blah, blah, blah meant crape.

So it became to hard (or impossible) to get FSU pushed down to anywhere near where they deserved.

No way FSU deserved that consideration..... that even before Winnie should have probably been in jail.

At this point Winnie, Jimbo, and others should probably bee looked at for all this horsecrap.

Four teams is clearly not enough, that is pretty evident. I am not saying to go to a top 16 route but 8 would be fair enough or perhaps even 6 with the top 2 having a bye. The argument that the regular season would mean nothing is so stupid as you still have the perform to get into the playoffs.

Baylor got what they deserved imo trying to sneak around playing the sisters of the poor. The better option if you really want to win it all is to take on all comers, that's how NC have been won.

FSU was probably about the 12th best team in the country, and they were exposed as such today.

the playoff needs to stay at 4 teams... If they increase it the regular season won't mean much and they will need to eliminate a game from the regular season.

the best team in the country will end up prevailing most likely, whoever that may be... Which is the point. I'm just glad FSU got rolled

I would disagree with this, at least at eight teams. In most years two of the major conferences would already have both participants in the conference championship game already in the playoffs, which would make those games meaningless, other than seeding. If your seventh, eighth, or even sixth in many years you already lost to someone in the top four-five spots, thus greatly reducing the importance/consequence of those games. I can't recall many seasons where the seventh or eighth team had any remote justification for being in the playoff. You are just adding more big five conference teams who failed in the regular season with eight teams.

Bullshit as you still need to win to qualify like it is currently.

The only thing Packer has right is that the stupid preseason rankings throw a monkey wrench as it unfairly gives advantages & disadvantages to certain teams. However cases could be made that teams outside the top 4 deserved a shot in pretty much every season when the BCS was around. I like the 6 teams with the top 2 getting a bye model as teams would definitely jockey ffor the bye.

last year they at least earned it in the final game against a great auburn team who people expected to win...this year so much different.. undefeated sure, but in by default of last years performance and the streak continuing.

I agree on the pre-season rankings, but I still don't see how you could leave FSU out this season being undefeated.

Six could work, to your point, in most yours there is at least one team you could argue should have made it and sometimes two teams. I just don't see any years where you could make a good case for three or four deserving teams being left out. The battle for the bye could add an intriguing aspect to the mix as well.

Ohio State definitely should not be in the top four either. Big 10 sucks and it is showing.

I agree, you could not leave them out as besides being in a power 5 conference, did the one thing no other team can claim & that is go undefeated in the regular season. I am happy they made it as Oregon was my biggest play of the bowl season outside of Navy & Stanford. The line said all that needed to be said. Now if Ohio State can get there, I will be real happy!
