Hey Ya'll. I was talking to an old high school friend from Wisconsin and we mentioned how we want to move somewhere else. He mentioned his sister and her family moved to Nosara CR about 4 years ago and actually have a TV show called Super Natural Adventures. Below are a few clips. Thought it was funny since we have a large CR contigent on this board.

If I said to my wife let's move to CR she would leave in a minute. How is Nosara for a family with kids 6-8? My friend is down visiting his sister right now. Any place you suggest he visit? we might cruise down over the holiday season..

HI Nosara happens to be a beutifull place, great beaches and great people, the thing is that there isn't good schools near by except for the local schools. Climate is hot most of the time around 80 at night is nice and chilli . If you have young kids best would be to have a tutor.

Just moved down here about 2 years ago from Altamonte Springs and i definitely know what your talking about. I strongly encourage you to visit before you consider moving down here but i'm sure you guys will love it. The good thing about CR is that your only 2.5 hours from florida, if you wish to travel back and forth.

Moved down here solo , so it wasn't that difficult to relocate. It totally depends on your current situation. For example what your going do for a living, and what accommodations your family might need. Nosara is very beatiful but also very secluded, and I think if your moving down here with your family that is use to florida living, than it might be a big shift for them. You may want to consider some where outside of the city, where you can live comfortable with all the amenities that your family is use to, and at the same time be only a few hours away from all of the beautiful parks, volcanoes, and beaches... I just got back from Altamonte last week, and it was hotter than hell !

Exactly, Nosara is a beautiful place, but very tiny. If you don't surf, you'll most likely get very bored...your kids as well.

Like Caluminati said, it depends on what your used to, what you like and what you're willing to give up.

I for example would give my left nut to get out of the city to live in Nosara, but that's just me.

Thanks for the info guys. We are not big nightlife people who move and shake but we do like having some culture. The city we live in is very small so we are used to the simple life. I would think the main thing is a safe area, good for kids and an area where we could access a decent education. Any cities/areas you would suggest we look at besides Nosara?

Thanks again. :toast:

In about a year the highway between San Jose and the beach will be opened. Then you can live in an area like Orotina and have access to the beach as well as the schools and culture of San Jose.

The reason I believe it, is because a private company is building it. They need it to open to collect that toll money.

Nosara has a private Montessori school, Del Mar Academy. I lived there for a year and the place sucks, its just a bunch of rich arrogant trust fund gringos that have never had a real job in their lives. I have lived in many beaches in CR and Nosara was the first beach I lived at that I was happy to leave. I live in carrillo now and I love it. there are only 200 people here and there are about 5 gringos, so I actually feel like I live in CR as apposed to a tropical OC!

My friend just got back frok visiting his sister and as I expected you all were dead on (of course because you live there) but I had to post his take.

I was down there for two weeks and took some Spanish classes, went to the beach, played and sang some tunes with my sister at some local establishments, had great meals- it's definitely not Vegas by any stretch, but there was plenty to do for a couple weeks. I think if you were there for a month or more you'd want to travel around to some other towns, the Arenal Volcano, etc. San Jose is a puddle jumper away (or about 5 hours by car), a big city and there are mountains, but it's inland. Anyway, Nosara is great for a visit. The Hollywood set like to go there because it IS so laid back. Anyway, CR is a small country so you can get around fairly quickly.
