Friday's game might be the best of the 3. Paulino is the Royals ace. He throws in the mid 90s, with a pretty good slider. At times, as in the Yankee game, his stuff looks un-hittable. Against the A's he should dominate.
The A's are flirting with hitting records this year for lowest team average and maybe runs. They just scored 6 runs in a 3 game series against the Twins, and their atrocious pitching. Liriano, who has been terrible this year and was pulled from the rotation with an 8.47 ERA(nearly traded), shut them down over 6 IPs with 9 Ks. The A's have scored 12 runs in their last 8 games (all losses). I see a very bad run coming for the A's in fact. Their pitching used to keep them afloat, but this year it is not as good as in the past.
Colon has also been ineffective in his last 5 starts, 44 runs in 25 IPs. He throws TOO many strikes and too many are in the middle of the plate. I guess when you're 39 years old and fat, it can't last forever. The Royals have a few hot hitters, none of them more hot than Francouer- who is crushing everything. I also think they have a lot to prove to their fans that they CAN win at home. Not one Royal is really struggling vs. RHP except maybe Hosmer- who has raised his avg. 30 points in the past 2 weeks. 3 units -1.
