Byu goes to San Jose state riding a four game winning streak. According to fbs statistics San Jose state has the number one ranked pass defense, interestingly enough they got hammered in their biggest game of the season against rival San Diego state. Relatively speaking San Jose states strength of schedule has been pretty weak. They've lost to Air Force, a poor Oregon state squad, an average auburn team who nearly lost to an fcs school, and most recently getting thumped by the Aztecs.
Looking at byu's schedule is something else. By years end byu will end up playing 6 very good to elite level defenses. Boise state, Michigan, UConn, mizzou, Utah state and now San Jose state.... Throw in the fact that they beat Nebraska, Boise state, Cincy, east Carolina, UConn and narrowly lost to ucla by a point and I'd say you're looking at a very underrated team. This byu team has played an already tough schedule and lost their starting QB, but the backup has done very well and is throwing darts all over the field.
the only quality team San Jose state played they got dismantled by..... That's bad news for them because byu is a quality team. Here's the real differences.
while San Jose state apparently has a lock down pass defense they have virtually played no one who really throws the ball..... Auburn, no, Oregon state-no...... Air Force, lol, no.... New Mexico and unlv, no and no....
it's my interpretation that their stats are skewed greatly!....has anyone seen the byu WRs?!?! They are all 6'4-6'6.... Serious height advantages all across the board. Can't double team them all so something has to give. I know San Jose state has a great Rb who is in the national rankings for top 5 RBs but byu has two very big and bulldozing backs themselves.... I don't think San Jose state has the ability to stop both the run and the pass, if byu has a steady diet of both they will roll San Jose state. Byu is also one of the few teams that has slowed Cincy down this year and they beat them.... That goes a long way in my book. They also beat a very good all around team and stellar defense in Boise state
bronco mendenhall is the better of the two coaches as well for what it's worth.
i think this is a total mismatch, and I truly believe San Jose state gets exploited here for what they really are.......average.
Byu wins comfortably 41-20
5* 550$ To win 500$
Byu -12
4* 100$ to win 105$
byu -7 first half
