not too shabby a card for an otherwise non-descript friday evening at hollywood. here's what i'll be playing.
r3: darlin corey. mark johnston is not the greatest rider ever to don the silks in socal, but he's serviceable and rarely gets bet. darlin corey was much the best last time and if she gets away cleanly today, she'll be ultra tough.
r5: decarchy. sky jack is the class, but if he makes it back from yet another surgery and layoff, then i tip my cap to him. decarchy has been freshened from a couple poor performances earlier this year. while he hasn't looked the same since winning the kilroe last year, he'll be tough in here first time back for frankel. going to pair him up in the exactas with irish warrior.
r6: go yoyo. love first time mitchell starters are they have probably been given the magic mitchell juice for their first run. big upgrade from the struggling bell barn and this field won't produce any decent horses. i'll take pval and expect this one to rate and rally.
r7: grant marty a wish. there's theoretically a ton of speed in here to set up the late runners like hadl, but i'm going with the speed of the speed from the coveted outside slot. grant marty a wish is simply the fastest horse in here and i expect her to run these all off their feet early. the duel make take its toll late, but i'll take my chances with tyler, who has been riding like a hall of famer recently.
r8: sudden fame. don't know if we'll get any type of a price with leading trainer doug o'neill in here, but felipe rarely takes any money and this one ran a lot better than he looked last out after getting sawed off at the start. he drops now and with a clean break, he may be tough. this is a huge, huge, huge drop in class.
