WEDNESDAY 1-1 -2.63 UNITS

Big card tonight, I hope that it cashes in for all!!! Let me know what you think about my selections:

10 Units Indiana Pacers -2 -103

Defensively there's a huge difference between these teams. Indiana under coach Rick Carlisle is holding teams to 41% shooting and 82 points per game! Seattle likes to run, and is allowing 93.9 ppg. This is the fourth straight road game for the Pacers and they are 1-2 SU/ATS on the long trip. On the other hand, they are still a strong 8-2 SU/7-3 ATS on the road!!! The defense is allowing just 86 ppg away from home. Seattle is just 5-4 SU/4-5 ATS at home and has a nice frontcourt of two 6'-10" players in Rashard Lewis and Vladimir Radmanovic. The Pacers have height up front, however, and better guard play and defense. The visitors match up well and may steal another road win in Seattle. The last three meetings, Indiana is 3-0 SU/ATS against the Sonics, including a 114-111 OT win in Seattle as a dog!!!

7 Units Utah Jazz -7 -108

A couple of young, rebuilding teams meet here, but they've had very different seasons. Los Angeles has two young players leading the way in Corey Maggette and rookie Chris Kaman, but like many young teams they can't play on the road. The Clippers are 2-4 SU/ATS away from home where they surrender 101 points pg!!! LA allows teams to shoot 45% from the field, which is exactly what Utah is shooting, so the home team should score plenty. Utah is a stellar 9-1 SU and 8-2 against the spread at home! Coach of the Year (to be) Jerry Sloan has these kids playing good 'D', and while they haven't been able to win much away from the Salt Palace yet, they will in time. The Jazz have all the edges here and the last time they met on this court, Utah rolled 88-73 and covered!!!

5 Units Milwaukee Bucks +8 -105

The Bucks have won four of six while holding opponents to 91 ppg while scoring 94 ppg. Has defense become a factor??? Led by Michael Redd, who scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half, the Bucks scored a 106-94 victory over the Hawks on Tuesday. The Bucks were playing the second end of a back-to-back without two of their better offensive players in Tim Thomas (ankle) and Toni Kukoc (back). Milwaukee shot 51 percent (42-of-83) and went 15-of-21 from the free-throw line. The Nets (H: 2-6 SU, 1-7 ATS) ran into a wall last week when they lost Alonzo Mourning to kidney disease and have lost three straight on the road while averaging 89 ppg and giving up 98 ppg. The road trip could have been a factor since the competition was the Kings, Jazz and Warriors, but the Jazz loss was a big surprise. The Nets committed turnovers on five of their last six possessions, squandering a late lead and continuing to struggle at home with a 96-93 loss Wednesday to the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies. Nets are in trouble, Bucks playing well. Expect a close game in the Meadowlands!!!

PART II

5 Units Phoenix Suns +3.5 -109

The Suns (R: 1-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) starting five was held to just 33% shooting Monday in a 89-82 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Stephon Marbury shot 4-of-15 from the field and Shawn Marion scored 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting. The Pacers defense was the difference. The Suns are shooting 46% at home and just 40% on the road and scoring 85 ppg while allowing 94 ppg. What's going on with the Celtics who've lost two straight; and 6 of 8 including a 1-3 SU run at home. Monday they lost to Memphis 96-89. Paul Pierce notched 26 points on 8-of-18 shooting and fouled out with less than four minutes left. The Celtics shot 38 percent (32-of-84) from the field and gave up 19 points on 14 turnovers. Neither team is playing well for their first meeting. That 33% shooting show by the Suns against the Pacers was because of the Pacers defense, look for a breakout game against the Celtics who don't play defense like that!!!

5 Units Golden State Warriors +5 -109

Evenly matched game between two nice young teams. But you can't ignore the home/court differential with these teams. Golden State is 1-4 SU on the road (though 4-1 ATS), while Denver is a remarkable 8-1 SU & ATS at home!!! Rookie Carmelo Anthony and Nene Hilario make up a nice young frontcourt for Denver, while Golden State has Erick Dampier crashing the boards. Former Nugget Nick Van Exel had 29 points in a recent win over San Antonio, and he will want to do something similar against his old team here. Should be a good game with plenty of points!!!

3 Units Memphis Grizzlies -8.5 +102

The Wizards were humbled just a little bit more Tuesday, when even without Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks coasted to a 97-72 rout of the overmatched Wizards (Away: 3-7 SU, 5-5 ATS) who were without Gilbert Arenas. Dallas had a commanding 63-44 rebounding advantage. Dallas had little trouble shutting down the Wizards, holding them to 32 percent (26-of-81) shooting. Washington was just 4-of-25 from 3-point range. Larry Hughes scored 12 points and Brendan Haywood had 16 rebounds to lead Washington, which has lost five of six. The Grizzlies have won two in a row and both were on the road. Pau Gasol led six teammates in double figures with 19 points as Memphis (H: 3-3 SU, ATS) had a 96-89 victory Monday over Boston. Lorenzen Wright added 14 points and 13 rebounds and Shane Battier and Stromile Swift chipped in 12 points apiece for the Grizzlies!!!
