Today starts with Charlotte at Georgia State. I see a lot of you on Charlotte, but I'm of a different opinion in that game. Here is why I'm on the other side...

when trent miles was at Indiana State his team was absolutely garbage until year 3. Well, this is year 3 at GAST. The revolving door on the offensive line has been turned more into a wall as all the guys got stronger and healthy over the summer. GAST also added 2 of the best JUCO RB's in Taz Bateman and Kendrick Dorn. Dorn is a bruiser, maybe a better fullback, but Bateman will possibly be the fastest player in the sun belt. True burner who last year ran for over 1143 yards on 153 carries in JUCO. Along with Neal, they are all co-starters so Charlotte will see plenty of those guys. The defensive line has been shored up as well with the addition of a 300+ pound nose tackle and a LB with speed who missed most of last season with an injury moving to DE. The LB's also got much stronger with transfers and former Michigan commit Kaleb Ringer who is in a word- violent. Some tough beats and a lot of injuries plagued last season.. Everyone is healthy and it's a "home" game.

Cashflow- I hate 7.5 more than any other number in college foots... It opened at 4 so 7 is right about the ceiling. My cap says 41-28 GAST.. But it's the opener. Never really know what you got until week 3

I teased UNC-Charlotte up to +17 (+7) as part of a 3 team 10 point teaser, and I realistically believe they'll get a back door cover for me.

Charlotte has 17 returning starters, including their QB, last season's 1436 yard RB (Kalif Philips) and 1371 yard WR (Austin Duke).

More importantly, Charlotte will be dedicating this historical 1st FBS game to the memory of their popular 44 year old OL coach Phil Ratliff, who recently died of a heart attack on August 9th.

Lot of emotion will be on the Charlotte sideline. That's the "X Factor" IMO. You never know how these young men will respond to this.

Georgia Southern potentially may win this game by 10 to 14 points. That wouldn't surprise me one bit. Yet, It also wouldn't surprise me to see a 7 to 10 point victory either.

I'm counting on a shootout, hence why I teased the number to get Charlotte +17.

It could be really a back and forth scoring affair. There's a reason why the totals for this game is 70. LOTS OF POINTS!

I agree with that and also believe we will see some points. This Bateman kid has a chance to make a name for himself today since it's the only game in the time slot. :toast:

i just personally don't like the number. I don't like to buy points, but that's usually the only one I'll buy

Let me clarify. I think buying points is a waste of money. However, I personally don't like 7.5 and buying down to 7 is about the only time I'll buy points in college football. GL

They were a top 20 offense last season. They just keep turning it over and coaching staff isn't adjusting their play calling or audibles to charlottes defense. Charlotte has run the same 4 plays defensively
