7P start on ESPN2
Pinnacle hung a line of
O9 +100
U9 -110
no clue why the line is anywhere near this high
fullerton's starting pitcher has an ERA of 2.00 and missouri's is 1.95
goodwin field at fullerton is a HUGE pitcher's park - ESPECIALLY at night - and this game starts @ 7P. lately the weather here has been cloudy and overcast with occasional "mist" in the air making it even heavier than normal
so we have 2 GREAT pitchers in a pitcher's ballpark and they set a game total at OVER TWICE THE COMBINED ERA OF the pitchers and i am supposed to think this game is going to be high scoring? since when? and we know fullerton is as fundamentally sound as the come and i doubt missouri is too much worse so now we don't have to worry about 5 UNearned runs in this game pushing the total OVER when it should have stayed well under. Fullerton is #1 in college bases with an ERA of 2.62 and Missouri is 9th with an ERA of 3.30 which adds up to almost 6 earned runs per game - or THREE LESS than the posted total on this game
also keep in mind LAST YEAR in the regionals Missouri CAME TO FULLERTON so they are very familiar with the place. missouri beat pepperdine monday and then stuck around CA instead of flying home so travel is zero factor on missouri - they are rested and used to PDT
i may be wrong here but when the line is THIS off on the total - i CAN'T pass it up. i might not win but how many MLB games have totals set at OVER TWO TIMES the combined ERA of the 2 pitchers?
and knowing Missou's pitcher Max Scherzer was a VERY high draft choice (11 to AZ) the other day getting over +200 looks tempting, too. Wes Roemer of fullerton is no slouch - but when he is draft eligible he won't be a T10ish pick. and the big west SUCKED this season meaning the numbers the Missou pitcher put up is even better than the fullerton one. i will NOT bet against "my team" but i know +200 or more sure looks tempting!
Let's make the final score:
Fullerton 4
Missouri 2
Under 9 -110 (And i fully expect this line to close around U9 -140 or higher or even U8.5 -110)
