RECORD YTD 55-37 (.597)
SIDES 36-26 (.580)
TOTALS 19-11 (.633)

Cant post new topic so I edited this one. record updated to show spurs win last night here.

Laker totals have fattened in the last 5 as they have played bottom ten defenses.

FROM L.A. paper

In the past six games, O'Neal has averaged 16.8 rebounds and four blocks -- well over his season averages of 11.4 and 2.48. And though he's scored at a modest, steady pace of 21.7 points per game, O'Neal's emphasis has clearly been at the defensive end.

He is chasing rebounds and chasing guards on pick-and-rolls. He is changing as many shots as he is blocking and -- in a concession he's always been hesitant to make -- has allowed that his defense may be the most critical asset for his team.

"I'm feeling better, I'm doing what Tex (Winter) and Phil (Jackson) want me to do," O'Neal said. "Phil wants me to focus on getting boards and getting some more blocked shots. We've got a lot of scorers on this team, and whenever I can get a high-percentage look at the basket, I'm going to take it. I'm not going to force too many shots, take too many ill-advised shots. I'm going to just rebound, play defense and try to keep everybody else involved."

Four times in the past five games -- including Wednesday's rout of Sacramento -- O'Neal has finished with more rebounds than field-goal attempts. Meanwhile, Bryant has been the leading scorer in five of the past six victories.

"It's all about winning," O'Neal said. "If we're winning playing a certain way, then I'm fine with it. But if we're losing playing a certain way, then I'm not fine with it. But right now, it seems to be OK, everyone seems to be enjoying it, so I'll just keep it doing it."

There is little danger of the Lakers losing with a defensive-minded Shaq. They are 18-2 when he gets at least 14 rebounds and 14-0 when he gets at least 15. They are 15-1 when he blocks at least four shots.

When it was mentioned that O'Neal had embraced a defense-first philosophy, Jackson nearly fainted.

"Would you repeat that question again? Because I can't believe someone actually said that," Jackson said. "He believes the idea that he can be a defensive force and a rebounding force first and foremost? Every time I've ever said that to Shaquille, he's always said, 'I'm a scorer, I'm not a rebounder and a defensive player.'

"That's an idea I've tried to sell Shaquille for the last three years. That makes a huge difference to our team."

Lakers are 3-19-2 OU in their last 24 at home

UNDER 195'

Utah tied here last night.

Posted earlier last month about the Western Conference dominance over the East. Will go that route and take the Defending World Champs at home in a revenge situation vs the East's Pistons.

Overnights at 4 mostly. Pinny has it at 3' but you got to lay 113.

Can never figure which way overnights are going to go. My Power ratings have the Spurs better by 4.

From NBA.com

"The San Antonio Spurs can clinch a playoff spot on Thursday with a victory over the Detroit Pistons at the SBC Center.

The Pistons have lost their last six road games against the Spurs dating to April 2, 1997."

From Detroit Piston site: "... Several Pistons are nursing nagging injuries. Richard Hamilton took treatment on a sore right shoulder, which he injured while running into a hard screen Tuesday. Corliss Williamson’s right knee was sore. Tayshaun Prince has a deep shoulder bruise, and Rasheed Wallace is treating a sore back. All are expected to play tonight."

. Spurs clinch playoff spot. The biggest ingredient in our home cooking is the refs obvious bias towards the home team. Spurs go to the line 29 times and make 22. Pistons go to the line 13 times and make 6!! Even if the Pistons make all 13, Spurs had 16 more chances.

Congrats to those on the Spurs.

I think there's a problem with new threads. If so, can you post your play here Razor?

Thanks

Another easy winner Razor. I didn't get to use it thanks to site problems. But I had one of those rare 5-0 nights. Let's just keep winning Razor and hopefully this site will get fixed.

Congrats

Game played totally to the mathematical averages. Its a pretty sight when all the numbers agree. This one pointed UNDER big time. Hope some of you got on it.

Site problems caused me to lose a big writeup with all kind of fundamental support for this UNDER. Laker # 6FG% defensively at home, Minny 4th FG% defensively on the road. Series 1-6 to the UNDER last 7... etc etc. Laker offense finally met up with a defense that wasn't bottom 10.

Actually the only reason the games go UNDER here is cause o that little blue guy pounding it UNDER. A black magic woman in New Orleans put a spell on him.

You would think the books would take this into consideration but maybe they are playing the public since the Lakers are such a public team. Your reasoning is a golden principle in betting and that is that the line can be affected by the fact a team may be playing weak teams in recent games.

This reminded me of a Phoenix Suns run a month or so ago. They were having success against poor teams in their 3 previous games so they were getting more respect from the books. Needless to say that when they came up against a good team they were unable to cover that fat line they were getting.

I look forward to reading your write-ups in the future. They make sense to me.

Going to pass today Saturday been looking at the card don't see anything worth stepping in.

Some observations: SanAntonio just clinched their playoff spot. Due for a letdown. Phoenix will be up trying to avoid the sweep, but I don't want to look at the paper tomorrow and ask myself why I asked a hapless Sun team to win me money. Pass

Cleveland looks good today trying to get into the playoffs, but has lost a bunch in a row and really miss McGinnis. Pass

Utah/Denver. Utah looking to avoid getting swept and trying to ge into the playoffs number-6 looks to high though. Denver does own this team. Lenard for Denver out. pass

Portland/Seattle: Seattle hot both teams fighting for playoffs. Seattle lives and dies by the 3. Flip a coin. Pass

Clipp/Minny. Either Minny shows up or they could be totally demoralized by yesterdays loss. Everyone has given up on the Clippers including themselves it appears. No one likes to be humiliated. Clipps might decide that this is a pride game and show up. Who knows pass'

StJoes/OklaSt: Havent capped a college game this year, but I was reading that Elite 8 favorites of between 1-3 points are 1-6 ATS since 1999. What that tells me is that bettors are buying into the dogs not being good enough to be in the Elite 8. Bettors have been proven wrong 1-6. Bettors have that opinion of St Joes today as Okie is a favorite of 2 to 3'. it will be interesting to watch.
