MLB YTD: 45-33 (+34.35 units)
Yesterday: 7-0 (+25.98 units)
One game jumped out at me when I looked over Friday's card. I thought I would post it up, before I hit the bed and work tomorrow. Will post the rest of the card, some time later in the afternoon.
Texas Rangers (-130) over Detroit Tigers (3.90 units to win 3)
I figured the spread would be a few more points higher, considering I beleive Texas is the better overall team and Benoit is a better pitcher than Knotts.
First off, Gary Knotts will be making the start for the Tigers. This will basically be a try out for the Tigers' 5th spot in the rotation w/ Nate Cornejo being hurt. Yes...the prestigious 5th spot in the Tigers' starting rotation...the spot Knotts lost the position to Nate Robertson, lol. Knotts did have some strong starts last season, but you have to go almost all the way back to May of last season.
Gary Knotts has an era of 6.32 w/ a WHIP of 1.72. In his 15 innings of work this season, Knotts has given up a whopping 11 earned runs and 12 walks.
Benoit isn't exactly Cy Young either, but he has shown some success of late. He beat Pedro Martinez and the Sox a couple weeks back. He also sports a 3.32 era and a 1.05 WHIP during his starts this season.
The Rangers continue to hit Right-handed Starters very hard. They are an impressive 18-6, scoring 6.6 runs per game, and hitting over .310 against them.
Alfonso Soriano, Hank Blaylock, Gerald Laird, and Michael Young have all been VERY solid throughout the season. In addition they have gotten back Laynce Nix, Brian Jordan, and Mark Teixeira from injury. Teixeira has recently struggled sincing coming off the DL, but showed signs of coming out of the slump today with a single and a double against Tampa Bay. Teixeira led all rookies with 26 home runs in 2003.
