It would be a mistake to over-value that masterpiece tossed by Halladay. The Reds are a team constructed to score runs in bunches...and they do. Further, with all due respect to Oswalt, he's no Roy, not that anyone else is right now anyway, and to think that this CIN team cannot put 3-4 on him in 6 is really dangerous IMO.
Comparatively, the Phillies can (and likely will, in my judgment) hit the ball well enough vs. Arroyo to piece-meal their own crooked number by 6.
Throw in another 3 innings, 18 outs, and these bats, and I think we'll have the other 1-3 runs to make the over a winner.
Just some thoughts, your mileage may vary.
This 7 run line is just begging for a 6-4 finish, lol.

A fair summation. Although admittedly, those numbers are not exactly Ruthian...but enough to plate some runs, no doubt. I counter with taking a look at Oswalts last 4 starts against a line-up that will be of a VERY similar composition.
I see runs on both sides...and still a dangerous play on either ML, nevermind RL.

If by " following trends is for morons" you mean: looking at a given team or player's recent performance(s) vs the identical team or foe and using info extracted from said "look" as salient criteria by which to place a wager is "moronic", I do not have a lot to offer you.
If for instance, you think it's "moronic" for I (and others) to choose the Yankees on a well-paying RL the last two night s because of what they've done to the Twins over the last 20 contests, I do not have a lot to offer you. I would point out though, that both wager's paid...although certainly neither were predicated on that fact/"trend" alone.
There are, of course, "trends" that offer more and less value when placing a wager...it helps to know which are which.
I would behoove anyone to take the time to position themselves behind a few that will help them break their book.

HL, I have the deepest respect for Kevy and I apologize for the clutter I managed to get involved in.
