6-Unit Play. Take #363. Under 52.5 Toronto vs Montreal (Friday @ 7:30pm. est).
The Montreal Alouettes are a bad football team. And now they are about to start Antonio Pipkin and hope he is the one to solve all their offensive problems. That's not going to happen, especially against a solid Argos defensive unit. Look, at the end of the day, the Als are the lowest scoring team in the league, scoring just 16 points per game. They are 1-8 on the season and could very well consider this their Super Bowl against a long time rival. However, the Argos come into this game on the heels of another solid victory and winners of two in a row. Last weeks win against BC may have saved their season and that's thanks in large part to the defense who faced four turnovers. Offensively, the jury is still out on McLeod Bethel-Thompson. He has performed well enough to continue playing, but went just 18 for 29 for 260 yards and a passing touchdown. This has the makings of a low-scoring game written all over it. Two teams who are below average offensively will cancel each other out and both defenses will show up in a big way in this one. The Argos have played 4 straight games to the under following a SU win, while the Als are 7-3 to the under in their last 10 games.

4-Unit Play. #962. Take LA Dodgers -1.5 over the San Diego Padres (Friday @ 10:10pm est)
Can you believe the Dodgers are still in the playoff hunt even after getting swept by the Cardinals? If there ever was a time that this team gets it together it's now or never. You come off getting swept, you are at home, you have Rich Hill on the mound who comes off 5 walks in his last game (one of the highest in this career) and he will be highly motivated to do well here today. Hill has not helped his team win back to back starts, he comes off 4 runs in Seattle, a rare non-quality start for him, he has not put back to back non-quality starts in several months for the Dodgers and has revenge from a 1-4 loss to this very Padres team earlier this year, it's now or never for the Dodgers and though it could be a low scoring game, we will take them on the run-line to get it done here and bounce-back.

3 Unit Play Take #259 Detroit +3 over Tampa Bay (8:00pm est):

The Detroit Lions have a new head coach in Matt Patricia and with any new NFL coach there comes a lot of excitement going into the year. That excitement has turned into frustration for the Lions just two weeks into the preseason as they haven't looked good in either of their first two exhibition games. One big reason for that is because their starting quarterback Matthew Stafford has only thrown 5 total passes so far in the preseason. There's likely no other team in the NFL that relies more on one player than the Lions do with Stafford. This is a team that's below average in most other key phases of the game including ranking dead last offensively in rushing the football. Without him on the field this is simply not a good football team and we've seen evidence of that again here in the preseason. The good news is that Stafford is expected to play into the 2nd half here in this one. They Tampa Bay Buccaneers will begin the regular season this year without starting quarterback Jameis Winston as he'll be out serving a three game suspension. So with that in mind the Bucs likely don't have the same type of urgency to get Winston ready for the start of a new year here in the crucial game number three of the NFL preseason. Instead the main goal is likely getting expected opening day starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ready for action as he's coming off an ugly game last week where he was just 5 of 13 overall and had some accuracy issues in the contest. Tampa Bay is off to a 2-0 start in the preseason this year so their desire to win in this one is probably a lot lower than a Lions team here that's desperate for a feel good type game to get their fans and media off their backs. Take Detroit plus the points in this one.
