Oakland should have no problem going into Los Angeles and taking the series opener against their division rivals. The A's are red-hot right now, as they have won 6 of their last 7. While the Angles are fresh off a 3-game sweep of the Tigers at home, that's nothing to get excited about. Keep in mind they had dropped 6 of their previous 7 before getting to play Detroit.
Not only is Oakland the better team, but they have a big edge on the mound in this one. The A's will send out veteran Brett Anderson, who has really been throwing it well of late. Anderson has a 2.84 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in his last 3 starts. In his last outing, he allowed just 2 hits over 7 shutout innings.
Angels will counter with Felix Pena, who has struggled over his first 8 starts. Pena is 1-3 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.444 WHIP. He's also had a really tough time at home, where he's got a 6.53 ERA and 1.597 WHIP in 5 starts. Look for the A's to score early and often in this one. Take Oakland!

The Mets come into South Florida winners of 3 of their last 5. It is a stretch that started with Wheeler showing his potential as he handcuffed the Atlanta Braves to a tune of 3 hits and 9 strikeouts as he did not allow a run in the victory. The win was Wheeler's 4th straight and he upped his scoreless innings pitched mark to 17 complete innings!
The Marlins meanwhile have lost 8 of their last 9 games, including another loss by Urena who dropped to 3-11 for the campaign, with an ERA of 4.66. Miami is just 7-19 the last 26 times Urena has climbed the hill.

My Bonus Play for Friday night is on the Arizona Diamondbacks over the Cincinnati Reds. And I want you to ONLY LIST Clay Buchholz in this one.
I think Buchholz has found himself once again, as he's proved to be an outstanding pickup by the Diamondbacks, who signed him to a Minor League deal on May 4 and called him up three weeks later.
The veteran right-hander earned a win his last time out, against the Giants, allowing two runs over six innings. He is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in his last three starts.
As a whole, the team will carry over momentum from a combined four-hitter delivered by Patrick Corbin, Brad Ziegler, and Matt Andriese in a 6-0 victory over Philadelphia Wednesday. After a day off, the Snakes will be refreshed for this game.

The Friars' prize right-hander will make his Major League Baseball debut after posting a 1.84 ERA in 10 starts in the Minors this season. A third-round pick in the 2015 Draft, the 22-year-old is rated as the Padres' No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline, and has his hands full with the Phillies tonight.
As good as the Phils are, this isn't threatening to me, after seeing them get stymied by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. And while Philly was enjoying the day off, the Padres were enjoying an 8-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Take the Padres in this one, as they roll to a win tonight on the strength of Nix's arm.
