Catfish is my favorite pitcher of all time. I met him in Minneapolis one time in the early seventies. He was walking around downtown Minneapolis with Sal Bando. I went up to him asked for his autograph. What a nice dude. He asked me where I was from and talked to him for 10 minutes. Very cool.

As for Oil Can. He signed a contract for an Independent team here in Sioux City. The first night he was in town he was arrested for a loaded gun in a night club here in town.
He got his nickname from his buddies in Mississippi. It seems that he loved his beer and the boys called him Oil Can because in Mississippi they call beer, oil.
