Butch Hadnot - Texas running back who looked like an All-American for about four games, then drifted into trivia.
Shea Morenz - Was supposed to be the Longhorns' great hope at quarterback after 15 years of mediocrity at the position. He played decently enough early in his career, but lost his job to James Brown then left UT to play minor league baseball.
I think it would be only right to name the award for players who were fantastic as a freshman before flaming out the "Maurice Clarett Memorial Trophy." He really set the standard for this.
Marcus Dupree of OU...Was great while he lasted..Probably the most highly recruited RB ever..A totally dominate runner with speed to burn...Was even better than Heisman Trophy winner Billy Simms..But he had a terrible work ethic..In other words he was plain lazy..And Switzer got fed up with him and benched him on several occasions..He didn't even get through half his sophomore season before he quit the team...He never played college ball again.
Willie Williams is up there wit Jimmy Johns.. Miami's top recruit, probably best HS defensive player in the country, but was arrested like 15 times. He transferred twice, including to Louisville I'm pretty sure, and is now out of football
