[h=1]ElfYourself Refuses to Die, as OfficeMax Introduces ElfYourself Live Seventh year for holiday app By Tim Nudd[/h]

There may be a few remote humans left in isolated areas of the Amazon who have not yet "elfed" themselves. Everyone else has. Yet OfficeMax's ElfYourself holiday app, introduced in 2006, refuses to go away—and in fact is coming up with new ways to digitally "elf" people for the side-splitting amusement of their moms. This year, any mothers who use YouNow.com, which is some sort of live video software, may be surprised—yet thrilled—when their cheeky offspring suddenly get "elfed" during a video broadcast. That's because OfficeMax is debuting ElfYourself Live on the platform. But there's more. In mid-December, the first ElfYourself mobile application will launch for Apple devices to "help holiday revelers create, share and view ElfYourself eGreetings on-the-go." You can create and share a holiday eGreeting at no charge through the app, "with the option to purchase additional dances for 99 cents each." The move toward anytime, anywhere elfing follows six years of increasing world domination. OfficeMax runs down the numbers: "Since ElfYourself debuted in 2006, people in all 196 countries across the seven continents have used the popular holiday website to create more than 470 million customized videos. Consumers have spent the equivalent of 7,124 years on ElfYourself.com during the 2006 to 2011 holiday seasons. To join in the holiday fun, please visit ElfYourself.com."

I must be the jinx of these free offers. I'll admit I've never heard of elf yourself so I checked it out and thought cool. So I get some gorgeous girls and put their faces on this calendar go through the whole process. Print the receipt # and head on down to the local office max.

I go up to the lady and tell her I am there to redeem their special offer for today and hand her the piece of paper. She looks at me and said what is it that you want sir. I am calm and tell her the company wide promotion to elf yourself and get a free calendar. She says sir, we don't have any free calendars to give away today. I say to her oh you are out of them, it was that popular? She says sir I still have no idea what your talking about, we didn't give away any calendars and I know nothing of what you are talking about.

I start laughing and said please read what I handed you and it should refresh your memory of your stores promotion for today. The lady reads the sheet and says to me hold on.

She goes back on the phone to call someone and she says yea some guy is here asking for a free calendar and I told him we don't have any, and he gave me this slip of paper with a code on it.

At this point I am thinking WTF, some guy, a slip of paper and I think bank robbery, so I am waiting for a bunch of people to come tackle me or something.

Low and behold some super buff guy comes over and says how you doing today, I say fine, he goes what's the problem. I said nothing on my end, but your employee is a little confused and doesn't know about company wide elf yourself calendar promotion today.

He goes, let me get this straight, you're here to get a free calendar and we are the confused ones? We don't have any free calendars here for you sir!

At that point I am pissed off at the stupidity and ask for the manager, to my luck they just happened to have just left and I missed them. I say to them how lucky for you because you don't even know your own company's promo for today.

Then the lady says, even if we could do this, I don't know how to make a calendar, I am new here and just started and the lady that does them has been off a month due to a car accident.

I said that's too bad for her but a month and no one here knows how to make a calendar, this is the print shop. She looks at the bulker guy and he says don't look at me, I have no clue. I say we'll that is evident and wonder how management wouldn't convey a big store promo like this.

The lady goes you are the first one to come in here today about this. I say ok, just give me my paper back, I'll go find another office max that knows what the hell is going on and left.

I tell you this is nutty. First it was the Big Mac deal, to come and find out it wasn't even a real deal LOL. Now this shit. All I know is when I find another office max this calendar better be worth it.

You know I should do that and when these jackaces give me a run around I can send it to their corporate office. I mean I could understand I was duped by a post here about buy a big mac or 1/4 pounder and get the next one for a penny. But this office max promo isn't like for one store it's on their web site. You have to type in elf on the search area and it takes you right there.

I just don't get it, either places don't want people to get the free stuff and just get them in the store to sell them something or they just have clueless management running these stores.

I think I need to open a place, give away something free and when people come, tell them we just ran out and here's a rain check and everytime they come in, sorry we are out them, but we do have this on special and sell em shit seeds or something.
