Are you crazy? Even in that animation the ball is going up then suddenly stops when it hits his hand..

Also there is 1 ref, 2 assistant refs (linesmen) and a 4th official (who sits with the substitutes/coaches)... In the Europa league this year there are 4 assistant refs on the goallines, which probably would have fixed this case.

What am I missing here in terms of everyone calling Henry a "cheat"?

If an offensive linemen holds someone on a touchdown pass, is he supposed to tell the ref "I held him, bring it back"?

If a defender fouls a guy on a game winning shot, but it's not called, should he go to the ref and say "Put him on the line"?

Why is he being called a cheater? Especially in a sport like soccer where athletes take diving to another level.

France isn't cheating. Officials simply missed a call. Anyone who is in the spot Henry was in would have done the same thing. I remember doing the same in high school athletics once.

This is pathetic on the part of FIFA - THERE is NO way 3 referees all did not see this. One of the linesmen is already at that end since they are kicking the free kick that way.

This is blatant manipulation by FIFA for money.

France should man up and replay the game.

You dont need replay if the game is fixed. This was a call that was IMPOSSIBLE not to see.

On the UK feed they showed some virtual reality stuff they run on all the games that models the players position and lets them adjust the camera angle.

The referees view was blocked by an Ireland player, and the Linesmans view was blocked by a French player in the 6-yard box. In that sense, it was an unfortunate combination of events, but they could/should have asked Henry.

Don't blame Henry. He made the mistake and owned up to it. It's not like he deliberately did it knowing he would get away with it.

Blame the crooked FIFA. They are just like the NBA. They give special consideration to who they want to win.

Ireland still has a shot to get in the World Cup. They have a meeting setup with FIFA on Wednesday that would make them the 33rd World Cup team... I guess we will see what happens.
