NEW YORK – The Fox network is sticking with its regular schedule over President Barack Obama this week.

The network is turning down the president's request to show his prime-time news conference on Wednesday. The news conference marks Obama's 100th day in office. Instead of the president, Fox viewers will see an episode of the Tim Roth drama "Lie to Me."

It's the first time a broadcast network has refused Obama's request. This will be the third prime-time news conference in Obama's presidency. ABC, CBS and NBC are airing it.

Can’t wait for the ratings :Carcajada:

I'm pretty sure it will also match the number of live television pressers hosted by former President GW Bush in eight years.

It's good to see the President being more visible in live action, regardless of one's politics.

As long as he doesn't pull a Reagan and promise us a "drug free America in five years", I like the increased access.

How ironic...

The 100 day mark is very over rated.

I bet Obama would rather not even speak about it, but probably feels obligated to do so.

I totally disagree, he loves the sound of his own voice. And it gives him another chance to utter some words that have no value. Something like "I'm going to balance the budget, simplify the tax code, improve health care while reducing costs, create 100 million new high paying jobs, cause ocean waters to recede and govern in a bipartisan fashion by including the greedy right wing terrorists in policy discussions".

Throw in "crisis" 50 or so times and baddabing, hope is alive and well.

BM... I’ve seen both “lie to me” and BO’s press conferences. I can’t decide which one is more boring.

Are they going to use a "commemorative 100 day" teleprompter for the occassion?

You know, of all the criticisms of Obama, I just don't get the jabs about the teleprompter when our last president struggled so much to form a sentence, even one he was reading.

I suspect had Bush been well-spoken, no mention would ever be made about Obama using a teleprompter.

Mine was a joke, but I think to answer your question it might be because during the election process it was brought up time and time again what a great speaker he was. I think a lot of people were under the assumption that most of his speeches weren't being read.

Or perhaps some people are under the assumption that people were under the assumption that most of his speeches weren't being read.

Nonetheless, I still laughed at your joke.

I agree with you though on the fact that it is refreshing to actually have a president that sounds intelligent.

Well done. Now no one needs to watch the press conference and it only took one paragraph and about tens seconds to read. (<)<

Not really into the political scene but I will say that it seems as though Obama really likes to be on TV.
