Ratings are in the basement and sinking fast for "The Casino," starring Golden Nugget operators Tom Breitling and Tim Poster. Once said to be Fox's great hope for the summer lineup, ratings are so bad that the network may pull the program fast. Programming Insider, an advertising industry trade publication, calls the series one of the two big disappointments of the summer, along with "North Shore." Overnights have sunk for the program from 5.6 million viewers for its debut to fewer than 5 million viewers just three weeks later.

but why?!?! Tom Breitling and Tim Poster are such great personalities! And it's so much fun watching a dealer try to get a job as a casino host. And it's so realistic...not staged at all

it needs to be! That show is so far from "reality" tv it is pathetic. The whole thing is staged and staged poorly i might add.Hopefully the owners will stop by the bash so we can let them know how stupid they come off(i am sure they have been told already). It just perpetuates all the bad stereotypes about vegas. At least american casino shows the a truer to life version. The show is a joke. but yet i watch every week

Hey wilhelm can you post a link to that article? I found nothing on the las vegas sun's website.

Adding:

My girlfriend who knows hardly anything about gambing or casinos, even thought this show was stupid. She said "it looks so staged and cheesy, do they think we are this dumb?"

I tried to watch it but as soon as they said VIP loser was a "professional" gambler I had to turn the channel.

I said this after week 1...while I find the show like a car accident, you have to take a peak at , there is no way the general public is watching this so called reality....

Maybe the public is finally tiring of all the Vegas and gambling related programming. I missed last weeks show, will be sure to catch this one just in case it isn't there anymore. American Casino is a good fill-in though, 1000% more authentic and equally intriguing characters. I love how the hotel management are bitch fighting all the time, if only the Poster boys would do that this show's ratings could get out of the muck!

Hell, Fox (FX) canned "Lucky" which was probably the best gambling/Vegas related show ever, IMO.

I watch it because, well because I watch anything related to gaming. But this show is really the pits and last nite was the worst yet. This black guy w/his family in tow having promised his kids a trip to Disneyland, proceeds to lose all his jack on Roulette of all games. This is the worst possible representation of what it`s like in a casino. Pitiful. Speaking of pitiful that chick auditioning for a singing gig was repulsive and that litle nerd trying to become a host should be punched in the face. Give me a break!!! Discovery has a show from Green V Ranch that I enjoy.

Silver7,
What kind of plot would you like to see?? These things really do happen , just cause you don't like the plot doesn't mean that millions of others won't too! Its a reality show! I guess you would like to see someone just gambling 24/7!

as much as I like gambling and Vegas, that show is f___ing terrible.

but I watch it anyway. I guess I need a life.

that young dealer kid ought to get fired for being a prick to his boss, but like everything on this show, its probably just staged.

the psychic stuff was really stupid. showing the kids playing roulette in their room after being left alone so mommy and daddy could gamble was reprehensible.

nobody going to miss this train wreck of a show when its gone

Its just so staged, anyone with half a brain can see that.
The public can see that, the way everyone acts is so false.

I will bet they filmed for a while and found everything boring so they decided to make stuff up.

The most FAKE reality TV show ever. They could have made it like American Casino that Travel Channel is doing and it would have done better.

I really liked that 'Lucky' show, too. They were really developing some great (and realistic) characters that people could root for and identify with. Then they can it after like 10 shows. Probably poor ratings, but hell lots of the greatest shows in TV history had bad ratings for longer than that(see 'Mash' and 'Cheers' for 2).

As w/most reality shows this one appeals to and is directed @ the lowest common denominator. Which is the base audience for most of Fox. No plot, lousy acting, etc. Did I watch this one? Yes, but as I said I`ll watch anything w/the word Casino or gambling in it. Come to think of it I MAY be a true degenerate! I`ll be glued to 2004 WSOP starting tonite. I need a life. If that kid EVER gets a job as a host on his own merit, I`m getting in Charlize`s pants this wk.

geez last nights show was awful and should be the nail in the coffin for this show.

the kids gambling in the room, nice advertising for Vegas and the Nugget, they deserve all the heat they get for approving that shown.

Daddy blowing the Disney trip at the roulette table, another nice representation of both the city and the casino.

A psychic bit that showed there are yet more morons coming to lose their money.

Tommyboy showing once again as long as you have juice your qualified in this town. I pray to god he has to come to me for an audition.
yeah, he should be a host, "she's not my girlfriend, but I tagged her a few times, if you know what I mean".
uh yeah, tommy, sadly we do.

The show is a total joke: forum had it right from day one.

That massive tool Tommy looks like he would need help tying his shoes, let alone being able to wrangle a dozen drunk high rollers.

His bulbous head and marble-mouth reminds me of Bobby Hill on "King of the Hill." I wouldn't trust this guy to clean toilets.

I'm glad to see the public isn't so stupid as to give this tripe an easy pass. There's a reason actors get paid good money, kids: it's because they don't look like jackasses trying to deliver horrible canned lines.

Also love how the camera manages to always be there whenever some starry-eyed young'n is relocating for their big break...even AS THEY'RE DRIVING INTO VEGAS. I guess that psychic is more useful than she looked.

Network television would love nothing more than to be able to stick jerkoffs wanting their two minutes of fame in front of a camera and recite poorly conceptualized storylines. It beats having to pay Ted Danson a million bucks an episode.

Either script a show with REAL actors and REAL writers, or get a camera crew and wait for some authentic drama to happen. This retarded half-breed "entertainment" is wearing really frickin' thin.

Anyone that thought Lucky had realistic characters has got to be kidding! That was as fake as could get, I mean did you miss the episode where he folded his quads so he could chase the girl that scammed him??? Or how about him sitting around with supposed degenerates like him, yet they always found ways to make money doing stupid stuff. That show was as full of false myths about Vegas as this silly Las Vegas show on NBC. Once again, watch American Casino if you care about the truth, watch the Casino if you just like to have a more scripted and entertaining view of the truth. And watch Las Vegas if you want eye candy and don't care about the truth.

WildBill:
I know they took some liberties with reality on "Lucky" especially since it was intended largely a comedy. Lots of inaccuracies, but if some one put together a meticulously accurate in every detail show on gambling in Las Vegas it would bore the hell out of every one. It is like expecting 'Cheers' to be a documentary on alcoholism in Boston.
The first show of 'Lucky'when the compulsive gambler friend of Lucky's repeatedly takes a hit by a moving car to raise money should have tipped off the show's intentions to all. I still liked it for what it was not for what it was not.
