</figure>The time has finally come for Dylan Bundy to etch his name atop the Baltimore Orioles' rotation.
Baltimore announced Friday that Bundy, 23, will make his first MLB start Sunday against the Rays at Tropicana Field. Bundy was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, but he has suffered multiple arm injuries since then.
Bundy has been pitching out of the Orioles' bullpen this season. He caught the eye of his manager, Buck Showalter, after striking out all seven batters he faced in his last outing.
Showalter mentioned in spring training that Bundy could start the second half of the season in the bullpen, but he had more recently backed off that statement. However, it appears the talented right-handed pitcher could no longer be held back.
Bundy is 2-1 with a 3.08 ERA in 38 relief innings this season. Though he is an intriguing player as a starter, he will certainly have a strict pitch-count limit and may move back to the bullpen if he struggles out of the gate.
Still, Orioles fans should be excited to see their lauded phenom spring into action.
