Former San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield was charged Monday with the rape of a disabled woman after an investigation that lasted over a year, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

Stubblefield, 45, faces five felony counts related to the alleged assault, according to the DA’s office. The April 2015 incident occurred at Stubblefield’s home in Morgan Hill, where the woman, who is developmentally disabled, had been asked to interview for a babysitter job, prosecutors said.

Sounds like woman has cerebral palsey; why would she be interviewing to babysit when most adults who have cp actually need babysat/ group home.

I'm surprised it didn't say it in any of the headlines but Stubblefield won DPOY in '97. I was pretty sure he won it but thought if they didn't say "Former defensive player of the year" that maybe I was wrong.

Does this investigation involve DNA? How about audio or video? A 13 month investigation is quite long, where is the evidence coming from? Is it a he said, she said situation? It seems so easy for women to yell rape & the mans integrity & livelihood goes down the drain.

I'm assuming there are witnessed or he confessed, of course we never know even remotely what the detectives have as evidence in their possession.

If he did it, he should be ashamed of himself. Don't know much about CP condition, & how bad it can affect people, but like someone mentioned, if she does have CP, then how can she babysit & be responsible of another human being?
