Dividend paid out today. It was up 8% today, down a little after hours. Is this something to hold onto, or dump it now that the dividend is paid?

Sorry Coach, I did not reply sooner. I did not expect the stock to move this fast . To answer the question you do not need to hold a stock to the payment date. You get paid as long as you are the owner of record on the dividend date. Even if you sold it on the 12th , you would have still gotten paid on the 19th. fortunately for you it should open around 6.50 tomorrow AM. I spoke to a broker from Raymond James about it at an October home show. She didn't seem to know anything about it and yet the next week the were touting it an now giving it a $9.00 target price.. Up to you if you want to hold. You can always sell it , buy something else and rebuy it in January before the next dividend in February, or hold it knowing if it goes up $1 it's like 15%.

MF, I sold it on Monday. I sold some other stuff today. I got rid of F, which I've had for years and had been down several thousand $$, I sold it off today and cleared a few hundred (which I consider a win - a got a ton of dividends over the years and could have sold it at a big loss, instead held on and made a small profit). I also got rid of NKLA. I bought this and it shot up 50% and I held on, then the news hit that it was a fraud. Anyhow, the last two days it came back strong and I dumped it all today for a small profit (but I was down almost $5K!). The market is out of control right now, really starting to worry me. I'm going to pick and choose a few stocks here and there, but I'm keeping plenty of cash on hand in case there's a drop.

I've been watching ET. I'm going to keep following it, as you suggested, and may hop back in if the price is right....or before the next ex-dividend date.
