I just heard off of Fox sports net in StL, that since Martz took over as coach for the Rams, off the bye week, Rams are undefeated! 5-0. In these games Rams have averaged 40ppg! I loved the Rams as one of my top two plays but this is some strong evidence of how well this team plays after bye and how well offense performs under Martz after bye. Rams +1.5 Top Play!

Rams fans here in STL have started tailgaiting at 6am this morning . You gotta love it. Should be a very rowdy crowd for the Pats today. Especially with this being a 3pm start!

Kojak, interesting bit of info you gave. Thank you, very much. I'm curious to know whom those teams were that the Rams played after an off week, stats, etc. Wonder if it was vs the caliber of a team like the Patriots or a team like the Cardinals. Plus I would think those stats are from the Ram's glory years, which has gone far past them now. In my opinion Belicheck is 10 times the coach that Martz is. This looks to be a high scoring and close game. Should be a great one to watch today. (My buddy back in Columbus is pissed, he's stuck with regional coverage ala Bengals/Cowboys. I keep telling him Direct TV! lol)

Best of luck today!:toast:

only problem in this game is the coaching. one thinks he's a genius and the other one is. one has a ton of great ball players but doesn't know how to use them and the other is the best at what players he has. good luck but there is no way im taking st.louis because you know he will be outcoached here

Step,

First of all this is only Martz's 5 year coaching the team, so he is 4-0 after a bye week not 5-0.

And those opponets were Atlanta in 2000 ended the year 4-12, Carolina in 2001 ended 1-15 , Arizona in 2002 ended 5-11, and Atlanta in 2003 ended 5-11.

So you can see that that 4-0 after a bye doesn't mean much when you see that NE allready has more wins through week 8 than any of those teams had all year.

Thanks Easy, I appreciate the info. When I saw the stats, I had a strong feeling it was due to playing weak opponents coming off of a bye week. Excellent point about the win totals.

Good luck today!:notiz:

The 5-0 stat given was with Martz on coaching staff which he was offensive coordinator in 99. Yes they have played weak opponents but 40ppg avg by offense is strong against whoever you are playing.

not that it matters but it's actually 39 PPG as a head coach of the team and 38.2 PPG if you count all 5 years. But there is no way they put up that many today.

This is just my thought and I respect everyone else's but after giving up 31 points to the DOLPHINS, I would be very worried about the Ram's defense. Bye week or no bye week. If the Fish can score 31 on your defense, there's no telling what a team like the Pats might score.

:dancefool Good luck

liquid,

I don't disagree with your thought but Miami scored their points mainly on 3 big plays in that game. Rams had just gotten back Travis Fisher to play corner as they have been getting killed by the pass. He has been getting his legs under him the past 2 weeks and should upgrade pass defense. Also, ly 1st round draft pick Jimmy Kennedy will play on dl for first time this year. He has been hurt. Martz has ripped him for 2 years but just this week, Martz was ecstatic at how much weight this guy has lost and how much time he spent in the weight room. He also said in practice the past 3 weeks, he has been an entirely different player. The other problem on defense has been Thomas , Robert has been hurt and they have been forced to play a rookie. Chillar has been getting better but Thomas made all of the defensive calls. I think these two weeks have allowed Rams to reorganize defense and get all their secondary people back in their position and have some depth. Anyway, I think Martz is a boob and should have been fired after Carolina playoff game ly but for this game, I truly believe this team will be sky high. Motivation will play a major role in this game. For the record, I rarely play the Rams as they are my team, and though a bias is detected, I am giving this as a Top Play based on being objective and the situation. IMO this is the best situation to play on the Rams in nearly 3 years. BOL.
