Over the past few years I have made some good money playing this prop bet on the first inning. I always play "no score" and usually have 4 factors that determine my play.

1.) Pitching Match Up - Most Important ( Love playing this with Lincy, King Felix, etc.)

2.) Offensive out put between both teams ( Never play on Tex, NY, Bos, Stl, Phil, etc.)

Glossary


Park Factor compares the rate of stats at home vs. the rate of stats on the road. A rate higher than 1.000 favors the hitter. Below 1.000 favors the pitcher. Teams with home games in multiple stadiums list aggregate Park Factors.


  • PF: ((homeRS + homeRA)/(homeG)) / ((roadRS + roadRA)/(roadG))
  • homeRS: Runs scored at home
  • homeRA: Runs allowed at home
  • homeG: Home games
  • roadRS: Runs scored on the road
  • roadRA: Runs allowed on the road
  • roadG: Road games
4.) Finally the trends week by week.

Now this final item is either something you believe or don't. Personally I have no explanation for it but I believe there are definite streaks when it comes to teams batting and scoring early in games. In the long run of the season it is probably pretty even on whether there is a score or no score ( though personally for me I have seen way more no scores then scores) if someone had that information I would love to see it. The trick is when to spot a low week and utilize this lull in batting to your advantage.

For example this past week there was a score in the first inning in the vast majority of games.

Monday
7 - 4 Score in 1st Inning

Tuesday
10 - 6 Score in 1st Inning

Weds
10 - 5 Score in 1st Inning

Thursday
6 - 1 Score in 1st Inning


I believe stats in base ball always return to the norm eventually. Once again I cannot prove this off hand but I have a very good feeling over the next 4 days or so there will be a lot less scoring in the first inning.

If you apply these 4 rules and don't bet with scared money ( Juice is -130 or higher means automatic no play) you can turn a pretty penny on this strategy. I always look where the line is -140 or higher on this category because usually the first 3 rules apply automatically. Also I never play the score no score if the total for the game is over 8.

Good luck with your plays and I am not promising anything but I really do believe these next few days are a very good time to play these bets because Vegas Books will give you better lines on this based on this crazy last week's performance.

Would love to hear some comments on this.

No play on the early game as it does not fit the 4 rules but still would not be surprised at all if there was no score in the 1st. I am looking at Clev @ San Diego but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

thats some really good info. if you dont mind me asking, wehre did you find this info? or do you just collect it in your own database. i love first inning bets and i love the idea of them. i was betting them quite a bit a couple weeks ago but stoped because all i had to go on was pitchers era. i tried making a "system" based on pitchers era, and last 10 games for pitcher and team, but that just sent money up in flames. lol

not suer if you interested of not but over the course of the season it has been proven that there are more games with a score in the first inning than no score. i think its something like 200-300 more games, but considering how many games are played thats not as big of a difference as it sounds. its also been consistantly shown that the later on in the season the more times a run is scored in the first inning. i didnt do the research but i did see the numbers across the street.

That's good to know that there are actually more games with a score in the first inning than without one. I would have thought it would have been the opposite. I started playing this prop a few years back being an Astro's fan and watching boring games going into the 6th and 7th innings with a score of 1-0 or 0-0 and thought hmmmm there has to be a better way of making money at this. I hate betting for a score in the first inning because I never win, although whenever the line is -135 ( Yes, Score in 1st) it usually always has a score. Just scared of it. The stats above can be found from several sites. ESPN actually has alot of this information readily available but other gambling sites also provide this information. For me, I just do a search on yahoo for " mlb offensive rankings" or " MLB Hitter's Parks" etc and search from there on out. Good luck with your plays. :toast:

Good luck with your play. Normally this would def be a no play for me but I am very bored at work so playing this very small. One thing to note is that all though Cinn did score a run in the first inning yesterday (it was their only score of the game) they hadn't scored a run in the 1st inning the previous 6 games before that. IF there is going to be a score I think you better rely on the cubbies. The cubs have scored at least 1 run in their past 3 games at Pittsburg for what that's worth. But they hadn't scored a run in the 7 games before that in the first.

Me too, I saw that the other 6 games all had a score in the first inning and thought there could be no way all 7 games had a score so I bet a medium size play and it hit fairly easily. ( I think there was only 1 hit that inning) Good luck today

I know how you feel.... I feel dirty with that win and as I said before this would have def been a no play had I not been so bored at work and looking for some action. For what it's worth I think that today is going to be one of those strange days where we see very little scoring in the first inning. Just a hunch but I think that today will make up for this past week's high offense output in the first inning. Since Monday there has been a score in the first inning 33 out of 49 games ( 67% hitting) I think we see that number get back to normal. Best of luck with your plays today.:toast:

Been away for awhile and have one play for tonight. Can't go into much detail as I would like but I do really like No Score 1st Inning for Atl/Fla game tonight. Not following all of the rules so this bet is more for action but feel this play warrents 1 unit.

Risking 1.35 units to win 1 unit.
