For the 1st time in years I actually had to decline a bachelor party in Vegas because I couldn't afford to go. Trust me I'm really pissed about it too. usually when I go I keep a budget of about $1500-$2500 for gambling and activities. On one of my better years I brought as much as $5k with me for a 3 day'r. What a blast.

For this trip, I declined the invite knowing I would have no more than about $800 to spend for the 3 day trip. Personally for me that's hardly jack shit considering the strip clubs and dinners will take up about 1/3 of it.

How much do you guys budget for gambling and activities when u head out?

really depends what you want to do, and what type of restaurants u want to eat at, as well as how much you gamble.

I think i should rephrase the topic. "How much do you spend on avg or budget to GAMBLE with?"

You took $5k expecting to lose it?

If you are not gambling, but just enjoying yourself, it is possible to burn through 5K in a weekend in vegas quite easily actually, especially if you are frequenting strip bars and the like.

OH, well that is a totally differnt situation, and depends on who you are with, gamblers or non gamblers....

if I visit with the wife for example, dont need much for gambling as I still place all sports wagers online, and only play a bit for fun here and there.

No, 5k just allowed me to play more $250 or $500 buy ins at Blackjack and Craps as well as play more at the sportsbooks.

You can always get a post-up marker where you wire your money to the cage ahead of time and then you draw markers at the tables. There's really no minimum for that other than what you bank makes you wire.

You can also get the traditional marker thats based on a check of your average checking account balance over the past year. That line can be as low as $500

Good info to know! Especially when ATM maxes are around $300-$500 a day.

I bring $500/day for everything.

I charge all shopping purchases and most meals. So probably $450 or more of the $500 goes to gambling.

$500 day isn't that much really....but as long as you aren't a total loser the whole trip, most days you have more than $500 to play with.

Bring and allocate are different for me. Bring ~$2000 in cash and allocate between $3k and $5k for gambling depending how I feel, charging everything to the room and usually charging when we go out. If I burn through the cash I go to the ATM (fortunately, (unfortunately?) I have no limit on my ATM card). I had a $2500 marker at Palms, so they don't have to be all that high.

Maybe, I've only ever spent one weekend in Vegas, and I forget how much I spent, but it was only a few hundred, 2 sports bets for a small loss, a few beers, and some food.. but I was at the Grand Canyon for one day and we spent the other two mostly just walking around and taking in the sights (January, so comfortable).

I don't play -EV games, and didn't want the hassle of searching for advantage opportunities, so just really played tourist.

I really struggle with the concept of setting aside money to gamble with that you expect to lose, I always have.
