Slim's post, that he had made a Tiramisu, got me thinking how much the eating habits of Sports Gamblers have changed over the Years. 25 years ago, a saying was always bandied about, "one day big winner, next day no dinner" There is no doubt that this was true, even among winning Punters. A losing day would turn any self respecting gambler off his Food, whereas a winning one would mean either dining on the finest ingredients at home (if married and the wife could cook) or more likely, eating out in the best restaurants. These were in the days where a winning punter had a chance to enjoy his winnings.

My earliest memories were of racing starting at 2PM, Football 3PM saturday, everything finishing at 6PM, no sunday or night-time betting. Nowadays, Betting starts at 11AM and finishes 6-7AM the next day, racing in Australia, West coast games in the USA. Because of the amount of sports betting, Bookmakers make more mistakes and in order to take advantage of this, the punters day has become almost endless, not to say tedious.

One of the few things not talked about in all this is eating habits. The going out to a top class restaurant has been reigned back due to shortage of no action time. Gamblers over the years have adapted to these surroundings and I am sure there are a few time saving tricks people have come up with. My own story is, cooking is one of my few hobbies, any spare time I get, I cook in bulk and put portions in those take-away trays the Chinese use. I have now got it down to a fine art where I know exactly what time to put it in the Oven so it will be ready at Half-Time.

Anybody got some good short-cuts on cooking or recipes.

Is the 2-3 drinks a day sticking?

I personally think it is healthier to drink 2-3 beers, than 2-3 Cokes, now that stuff will kill you.

I need to seriously cut down my drinking, exercise more, and eat better.
I used to run 50-60 miles a week, have 6.5% body fat and weigh 40 pounds less than I do now.

green good plan...if your going to eat a Junky meal make it at lunch time on either side of it for breakfast and dinner...have LITE things balance it out...having it at lunch will allow you to burn more calories ..also exercise at least 30 mins a day 3-4 times a week religiously will do the trick...this is what I do
