Miami's D was very underrated coming into the game....they are GOOD! End of the day Florida gutted out a win vs a top caliber defense. Great first test for them and they survived. First game of the season won't be perfect. Win is a win they are 1-0 regardless how they played. They'll look back at tape and address areas to fix...they'll be fine will have DD wins and make a solid bowl game

I agree, I think Miami is a very good team this year too, especially with Manny

And FL has a horrid O-line but they still pulled out the win, they have really good WRs in Hammond and Toney, just need to get them more touches

And I concur, preseason rankings give highly ranked teams a yuuuuuuge advantage
you guys been asleep for a few years?

preseason rankings mean absolutely nothing anymore. It's a committee deal and they won't even put out their first rankings until November 5

wtf kind of advantage does the preseason AP poll give a team? You think the committee, on Nov 5, will be looking at Florida's preseason ranking?

Nice UM fans beat up Florida band leader after the game. Listen, I hate marching bands from even my own school but to beat up the band director, c'mon man. Most of UM's fans never went to the school, probably never graduated high school and embrace the gangsta thug image of their team. Fucking scUMbags.

I told you that Miami is way better than most of you nicklebaggers think. Take your losses like men and stop whining. Thanks!w-thumbs!^

So good they got +3 turnovers...a PI on 4th and 37 on the deciding drive...

and still lost as a slight dog

Good call.

Since they play in the SEC and Foley is on the committee, they'll be ok

I like the turnover chain and the "Bling ring".

This is 100% MIAMI so i think its pretty cool.

Look back of the dominant teams of the 80's, 90's, and 00's. They all had the stigma and the swagger.

Its "cool" for a player to get that turnover chain or bling ring. It could give the student athletes maybe more of an "incentive" to create the turnover or get that touchdown. Every (educated) canes fan that i know, LOVES that stuff

And that’s why the Alabama’s and the Clemson’s etc win NC

their coaches wouldn’t put up with that shit

Like my under 9 wins bet still. I see a push as a worse case with it ..

As a Florida fan, and a regular gambler, no way in hell I'd take UF over 9. The "Lost Decade of Gator Football" is still on, and this team - with it's lack of overall talent - could just as easily lose 6 games this year as they could win 9.

Franks is borderline retard and reached his potential last season - now opposing DC's have had an entire off season to prepare. His "football IQ" is just low. But Mullen will ride him until the end (unless he's injured).

Jarren Williams is going to be a very good QB. Unless Miami fixes that OL they're going to lose 4 or more games, but the D is legit even with a young/depleted secondary.

Mullen's game plan and play calling was the worst I've seen from him in years. The 1st down INT w/ less than 4:30 to play was inexcusable - whoever called the play gets the blame, but Franks (as a 4th year player, and 3rd year starter) should have never made that throw. But, back to the play call: WTF? You want to run the clock out in that situation, right? Even if you punt back Miami would have had around 2 minutes and 80+ yards to go after the punt. Head scratching play calling.

As a UF fan, I'm hoping they "clean things up" - but the UF OL is a problem and that will be revealed vs. a good/great defense. And there are depth issues all up and down the roster w/ the mediocre/weak recruiting the last 5 years - so any injuries will be a factor.

It was the Hurricanes HC (who was at that time D-coordinator) who came up with the turnover chain.

Manny Diaz grew up in Miami so he gets "Miami culture".

Canes fan love it. Actually watched a segment on the news last nite which featured the person who does the designs for the chain

IMO FL. is not a good team this here football year. They have a good defense but not much offense.

This be caz they have Generation Z players' who can find the safe zones, but not the end zones!

Just my opinion! cheersgifcheersgifcheersgif<strike></strike>

I like the turnover chain. It's fun and not hurting anyone...

The reason they have preseason rankings is so people start talking about them. Same reason they come out with the BCS stuff long before it really matters, heck they could reveal it sunday after the season but then we wouldn't all talk about it.

The turnover chain and the td rings are ridiculous. Typical of um to celebrate too much during a game. The Miami alumni (that are professionals) all think it is low class and tacky. The fans that never went to school may like it but it is bad for "college" football.

Bad for college football? I think you are being a bit extreme there. Could it be considered tacky? Sure perhaps but is it really hurting anyone? The players enjoy it and have a genuine good time with it. Let them enjoy something for themselves as the game has bigger issues that are actual real issues.

I 100% disagree you with

However, can we agree on that its WAY better than the turnover backpack which is no longer being used at FSU??

florida looked bad but escaping with a win is all that matters. good coaches like mullen will work at it and the team will improve over the season. the way college football is now these teams dont have any tune up and almost always look rusty out the gate. havnt played a real game in 9 months. miami and florida both looked like teams with talent but no discipline. miami should be really disappointed because florida did just about everything possible to lose that game but somehow didnt. florida has a few games with lesser competition before they get auburn so they should be a much better team in a few weeks.
i am on the over 8.5 and 9 with them and ironically on the under for miami as well. happy the game ended as it did.
