Just pointing it out for people that don't think we should be #1. We played a tougher schedule and we just beat, in back to back games, the BCS #1 team. I'm pretty sure that has never been done before in BCS history.
Florida deserves to be #1. I don't think anyone can argue that, but I do think that USC would be beat them and they are the better team, but that doesn't really matter. Florida did was required and USC, while it can argue they did the same, but they weren't on the floor for the final dance and so can't claim anything.
I guess it is just annoying to listen to ESPN during our celebration special say USC would beat us. Based on what? Maybe they would but there is just no way to tell in our current system. But, guess what? The PAC10 is reaping what they sowed. PAC10 and Big10 voted against a playoff so this is the system in place.
Also, who on ESPN said that USC would win.
Couple of questions.
I did not know that the Big 10 and Pac 10 voted against a playoff, when was this?
Also, who on ESPN said that USC would win. ( I only watch live sports on ESPN, refuse to watch SportsCenter or Gameday. If I wanted to watch people lick their own ass holes, I would watch porn).
During five hours of meetings, Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive presented a plan for a plus-one format, matching the No. 1 team in the nation against No. 4, and No. 2 vs. No. 3 in the marquee bowl games. The winners would meet about a week later in the BCS title game. The plan also called for creating a sixth BCS game.
In the end, only the SEC and ACC wanted to even continue the discussion of the plus-one.
"I'm not unhappy," Slive said after those meetings with the 10 other conference commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White at a resort hotel. "There's no such thing as standing pat. I think we've done a service (by presenting the plan for a plus-one). We owed the fans and media an explanation as to why we're not moving ahead.
"I can't say I'm surprised. There is a bit of disappointment."
There was no vote taken, the commissioners said, but the leaders of the Big East, Big 12, Pac-10 and Big Ten made it clear they didn't want to move the BCS toward a playoff in any way.
Any change would've needed approval by university presidents.

It is sad that while basking in the glory of a national championship you have to relish it with more justification. Why? No playoff system. It is all mythical until then and the Mack Browns etc. have a pulpit (like they really need one). Congratulations to UF. And by the way Harvin is their MVP.Just pointing it out for people that don't think we should be #1. We played a tougher schedule and we just beat, in back to back games, the BCS #1 team.
