Florida has a five game losing streak on their hands and a dismal 23-35 Home Record at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The poor attendance has to be discouraging for the Marlins. Atlanta has been basically a .500 team since the All Star Break and recently has shown signs of losing their composure in critical situations evident with the ejections of Manager Gonzales and First Baseman Freeman last night. Dan Uggla has now hit safely in 29 straight games but has been fortunate to some extent by receiving breaks and rolls that may not occur in future contests. Both starting pitchers Beachy and Hensely have had success against their respective counterparts lineup's when these two division opponents meet. Beachy gave up only 2 hits in 7 innings while Hensley held Atlanta scorless through 6 innings in their last outings in this mathcup. Beachy has a strikeout to walk ratio of 3.5:1 and the Marlins average 8.5 strikeouts per game. Florida does hold a slight advantage in double plays turned this year going into tonight against an Atlanta squad that is prone to hitting into double plays. As the water continues to murky around the Fish and Atlanta's seemingly inability to keep their cool in sticky situations, today we will use the advice our old grandfather would recommend. If the Fish aren't biting, try another lure. Today's lure will come in the form of H+R+E's under 26 1/2 in expectation of Beachy dialing in on the corners of the strikezone for which he is quite capable and Hensley being backed up defensively with some double plays. Both Beachy and Hensley have WHIPS below 1.20 and Hensely has only given up 3 Home Runs this season. Stanton has roughly only a .200 career average versus the Braves. Atlanta now has speedy Michael Bourn and Jose Constanza to cover the deep gaps at Sun Life Stadium which may factor in tonight robbing Marlins batters of otherwise hits. Florida's 4-16 record after 3 or more consecutive losses and Atlanta's on again off again offense deters the angler from casting into either direction. Instead we will try our new lure looking for small nibbles along the way to catch and peg a H+R+E's under 26 1/2. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.
