i would think this is a mlb first.
3 pitchers from the same college were the winning pitchers yesterday.
tim byrdak-houston astros
jeff niemann-tampa bay
david aardsma-seattle
all went to college at rice. i doubt 3 pitchers from the same school have ever won on the same day.

imagine USC has done it...probably Texas too...maybe a couple others just off shear number of players they have had in MLBs.

another odd thing about this is combined they only have about 25 career wins.
being a longhorn fan i think i can eliminate them. i am sure with clemens winning over 300 times maybe one other ut guy hooked up the same day but i just cant see 3 in the same day.

5 players from Jason Giambi's high school team made the majors, that seems more incredible to me. One was his brother, one was the pitcher who crashed his plane over the East River a few years back, one was a yankee 30 yr. old rookie and came up to win his first ten games. I forget who the other was but I remember he was pretty good.
