ASU 15th with 605, TAMU 27th 61, TAMU -3 juiced now. That one stands out as interesting AP vs. Market!

It's hard to argue against any of the top 10 teams but I might take exception to Florida State being #10. I would
have either UCLA or LSU ahead of the Noles.

Either of these teams gets reliable QB play and look out!! Both are loaded with talented players.

I bet we won't find both Baylor and TCU in the top 10 by the end of the season..

GS, why do you say this? Man, you have a much better read on the Big 12 than I do but I can't see more than 3 losses
between the Bears and Frogs. Of course one L will be when they play each other.

I like both these teams and believe the motivation is strong with both after last year's snub.

I think it's more about survival than motivation. November is going to be a very rough month for the Big 12 elite teams. I don't see both TCU and Baylor surviving the season and playing the last game of the season with both being undefeated. One or both of these teams are going to trip up somewhere before they get to that game. If there was a talent imbalance in the Big 12 like there is the Big 10 I would have a different opinion. But there isn't. Whoever wins this conference usually has the most favorable schedule and the best QB play. That was the case last year with both Baylor and TCU. That's not the case this year. Both of their schedules are a little tougher.

Shockingly, the poll has eight of last season's final ten. These polls are a joke and a four year old could produce similar results. I'm not suggesting I'm the authority when it comes to polls, but I can assure you we won't see eight of ten repeats, in fact, it's more likely we would see eight of ten new faces. I'm partial to the following in no particular order:

Florida
Mississippi
Ohio St.
Nebraska
Clemson
Stanford
USC
Oklahoma
Baylor
Boise St.

Albatross,

I hope is well my friend.

I'm higher than just about anyone I've seen on Florida this season. It's funny, the SEC is so talented and so deep, if you were to ask me about the teams in terms of talent, I wouldn't have the Gators in the top five-six. However, I do think they will end up with the best defense in the conference. I love their defensive line, secondary and special teams units. I'm a defensive guy, so having strength on that side of the ball goes a long way with me. The offense is another story, but that defense should be outstanding.

As far as the high expectations, their schedule is about as favorable as you could ask for the SEC, even with only three true conference home games. They get Tennessee, Mississippi, Vanderbilt and Florida St. at home, travel to Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina and LSU and the game that will likely decide the division IMO versus Georgia in Jacksonville.

A lot is being made of the offensive line, but I'm not overly concerned. Florida has the recruiting profile of a team that should be very succesful. "Should" doesn't always mean "will" in the world of recruiting, but the horses are there. I expect Ivey will start early and he will be an absolute stud up front. Even with the losses along the line, I think this unit could improve from 2014. If this team can get average play from the offense with this schedule and they could go a long way.

I know your boys are the favorite in the East, but I feel like I have seen this movie before. I'm just not optimistic. That October 3rd showdown with Alabama is obviously crucial. I'm just not sold, per usual, on the backbone of the Bulldogs. If they lose that game I could see the season unravel with all the lofty expectations.

Who knows, but I'm sure excited it's right around the corner and we get to see it unfold on the field.

Best of luck this season.

I'm curious to see what Stanford does this year. They've progressively gotten worse on offense under Shaw. But have gotten better on defense. This year they lose most of their defense, but have their offense back along with a senior QB. I guess they are another one of those teams I'm going to have to see first to become a believer, because so far Shaw hasn't showed me that he has any imagination on offense. As much as I like defense, this is a different era of football. You've got to have some offense to go far in this game. tOSU was a good example of it last season. They simply outscored everybody down the stretch..

GS - Last year I was very critical of QB Hogan of Stanford only to find out this past off season that part of his regression last year was that he was dealing with the illness and then eventual death of his father with whom he was extremely close. His father died of cancer mid December. He played much better in their bowl game.

I don't really like preseason polls because it's a beauty contest every year. Removing tOSU from the equation because they have quite a bit coming back here are my questions related to the top 10:

First CFB AP Top 10:
2) TCU Football - Lost key contributors on defense but return the entire offense. Will the defenders that split time last year keep the momentum going and get the ball back in the hands of the offense? Last time we saw them they completely stifled one of those vaunted SEC West teams (ol miss in Atlanta).
3) Alabama Football - They still dont have a QB and lost a QB that set multiple records and a dynamic WR who did likewise. They had no 2nd or 3rd receiver and never got the TE integrated into the offense. They lost a lot on defense and it continues to be a defense that has trouble with SPREAD teams.
4) Baylor University - Lot of skill players return on offense but when will they stop someone defensively. Last time we saw them Sparty put up 21 in the 4th qtr to get a win.
5) Michigan State Spartans - With their QB and top targets back and a stout defense, not sure why they were not higher in the poll. Ask Baylor how good this team is.
6) Auburn Tigers - They lost a ton and we still don't know if JJ will provide enough of a run threat to make Gus' offense hum. Another SEC West team that has to improve on defense!!
7) Oregon Football - They are going to be better defensively, but they just lost to most efficient QB in the history of organized football. Besides breaking in a new QB and some key members of the OL, they have road trips to Sparty, Stanford and Zona St.
8) USC Trojans - Their offense will be unstoppable. I think this team should be higher just because it's year 2 of the Justin Wilcox defense and there should be a big improvement. They are also getting their scholarship numbers up as well (over 70 now) so depth should be building
9) Georgia Football - Another SEC team with no QB althoght they have Nick Chubb. Still amazing how no one picks Mizzou and all the do is return their QB, 4OL, and a solid defense with most of the secondary. I guess Mizzou is still considered a B12 team...
10) Florida State Seminoles Football - I see a huge drop off here. They were already life and death in every game last year with the returning heisman winner and now they lose their leading rusher, and a host of offensive talent.

Teams I'd put higher, UCLA, Arizona St, Mizzou, Arkansas, Ga Tech, and Boise
