Both Brandon Beachy and Mike Garza will make their first appearance against each others respective clubs today in Atlanta in Game Three of this series. Beachy is 5-2 3.43 ERA 1.19 WHIP and is 2-0 2.52 ERA in his last four outings. Beachy has made the strikeout his bread and butter with 24 K's in 25 Innings Pitched, 10 K's in his last outing and 105 K's on the season. Garza is 5-9 3.61 ERA 1.30 WHIP and has 130 K's this season in 135 Innings Pitched with nine strikeouts in his last appearance as well. Both pitchers have given up their share of Home Runs this season with Beachy at 14 HR's and Garza with 11 HR's, so to be effective today, they must rely on the strikeout and stay ahead in the count. In the combined 232 Innings Pitched, Garza and Beachy have allowed only 80 walks, so baserunners will be valuable when and if they get aboard. Dan Uggla looks to continue his hitting streak to to 34 games today and Veteran Catcher McCann is scheduled to make his first start since injury a few weeks ago. The Cub's Castro and Barney have gotten numerous hits so far in this series and Beachy must make them priority outs if Atlanta hopes to win on Sunday. Today we will focus on both pitchers strikeout arsenal and rely on better defensive plays in the field by both teams and look to the Under 4 -115 First Five Innings. We also will look to the Game Total Under 8 -125 in expectation of strong Bull Pen performances in the latter innings. If one or both pitchers can establish a strikeout mode early, it could very well carry deep into the game reducing scoring opportunities throughout. By staying ahead in the count, hopefully not giving up the Home Run Ball, and better defensive play to back them up, Beachy and Garza's First Appearances versus the other's team should provide for considerably less offense than we saw last night.
