How in gods name can he call a timeout with the clock ticking and 38 seconds left and everyone scrambling all over the place? He should be fired!

Timeout could've cost him the game... tough call in that spot... you want to save time for your offense, but by calling timeout on 3rd down you give the other team ANOTHER PLAY... whereas they would've spiked it to set up the long field goal.

That FG only cleared by about 2-3 yards... that last 3rd down run gained about 4-5 yards.

grandpa, they would have spiked the ball that play and it would have been a 5 yard longer kick which would not have cleared the uprights.

And now the game is over and oregon lost, so perhaps he will rethink a play like that again. If the kick was a 20 yard chip shot, i would agree, but not when its going to be a long FG.
