Finding a bookie

Im located in New Orleans ,LA and im looking for a good local book... last guy i had JERKED me around... i paid on time always and never gave problems.. he was always hard 2 find around payout time.. never answered the phone when needed and jerked the lines alot of times..

Anyone got a good source or info i can do to find a legit good bookie in my area?

Is there a reason why you can't utilize an offshore book like The Greek (www.thegreek.com)?

It's easy to set up an account and fund it. Also, they pay FAST! This is one of the reasons why they are so reputable IMO.

With The Greek, there's no "monkey business" like what you experienced with your "local guy."

Considering what you are asking for is illegal, I doubt you will be getting many responses to your thread, especially with a low post count. Your best bet is to use an online place. Western Union them cash if you want, payouts are quick and come via Western Union as well. No need for locals these days IMO as you can set up multiple accounts. I use SBG and Bodog. Bodog is always at least a 1/2 to full point higher, so I use Bodog if I want to play the dog and SBG if I want to play the favorite.

Find out where bars in your area hold poker games or places that do hold poker games. I'm 100% sure that you will be able to find a guy that is using a local much faster than posting on a forum.

Poker and golf courses are your best bets for finding locals.

Finding a bookie is probably one of the easiest 'illegal' things in the world to find. Much easier than finding, say, pot or the like. For some reason, people speak pretty openly about it. If you want to find one, you can. I would still suggest setting up an account at a couple of online places instead though. No hassle, 24 hour access, quick payouts anytime, not just on Tuesdays, and like someone else said, you have to put the money up front so you aren't going to get yourself in any big hole....

IMO, "knowing" locals is still easier. Just have them set your limits low. Locals nowadays are using pay-per-players so it's just as easy as offshore except you know when you can get your money or when you can get paid.

Granted the bookies have to be able to pay and the players have to be able to pay. Dealing with that now....
