This is a good discussion. We've been involved in integrating payment processors for the gaming industry for 2 years and what's been stated about credit cards is quite accurate. They are still the most recognizable online payment method to customers - yet obviously have their drawbacks.
Some debit card / e-cash processors suffer from overcomplicating the process and being less than reliable. That's one reason they haven't taken off. Plus the risk of contravening the Patriot Act is a real concern - whether you are based in the US or not.
