Dr. Ben Carson acknowledged Sunday that he is building a campaign team for a potential 2016 presidential run and indicated he will make a formal announcement by May.
“We’re making sure all the infrastructure is in place -- personnel and rationale,” said Carson, a conservative favorite expected to run in the Republican primary. “We’re putting all of that together.”
Carson indicated on “Fox News Sunday” that he will, in the next couple of weeks, announce an exploratory committee toward a White House bid and that he would make public in May whether we will formally enter the race.
The 63-year-old Carson continues to do well in early polling.
“We’re making sure all the infrastructure is in place . . ."- Dr. Ben Carson
He finished tied for fifth in a Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm New Hampshire Poll for potential GOP candidates released Sunday.
He finished behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Carson tied with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Carson criticized President Obama’s plan to provide free community college education to Americans. He said existing Pell Grants already help students from low-income families receive a higher education. And he offered advice for those who don’t qualify for assistance.
“W-o-r-k,” he said, arguing that government is not responsible for providing everything to it citizens, including those in low- and middle-income families.
“They’re looking for a pathway out,” Carson said. “That’s what we have to provide for them.”
Carson also weighed in on the recent debate about immunization and the measles outbreak that has divided the potential 2016 GOP White House field. He said parents should immunize their children.
Carson said many parents who don’t immunize are the victims of old misinformation and suggested the public health community hasn’t done a good enough job of getting out the correct information, which is that the obvious upsides outweigh the potential downsides, such as allergic reactions.
However, he argued the issue shouldn’t be partisan.
“It’s not a Republican or Democratic issue,” Carson told Fox News.
Days earlier, Paul suggested parents should have their children immunized, but also argued: “The state doesn’t own the children.”

No chance. Too dry. And he looks like his eyes are half shut. And looks matter to our dumbed down populace. He should probably see a plastic surgeon as it could make the difference. Or maybe I'm crazy.....

I'd love to see him in a Republican administration he's very bright, with far more of an acute mind than Obama. But lets not go with the
slogan "Our black guy is better than your black guy" it won't work. Secretary of Education Carson sounds about right!

He doesn’t have a Harvard law degree nor does he have any community organizing background so that pretty much rule him out.

Seriously, I don’t think the Republican good ole boy network will allow it. I’m fearful Jeb’s their man.

As of right now, looking at all those that might possibly run.... He would be the first person I would vote for since 2008.

How long till the smear campaigns start for both sides?

Democrats saying that the Republican running is just like (Insert a republican name like George Bush, McCain, Romney... etc) and are out of touch.

Republicans saying that the Democrat running doesn't have the qualifications to hold the job.

Maybe next year when things really get serious? I can already see the smears coming, like clockwork for the past 10 years.

I was thinking more like Surgeon General. In any event he needs a prominent role in the administration. He’s too brilliant to waste.

Southern Poverty Law Center Places Ben Carson On ‘Extremist Watch List’

Ben Carson is receiving a lot of attention as a potential presidential candidate, but he’s now also getting noticed as an apparent “anti-gay” extremist.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which considers itself a civil rights advocacy group, recently placed the famed neurosurgeon on its “Extremist Watch List” — a list that mainly includes neo-Nazis and other white supremacists.

Be surprised if he ran. He's the guy that just tells you what's wrong and who is to blame for it. Never actually getting invloved or offering solutions. That's why conservatives like him so much

You serious? Kind of ironic coming from you. I'd guess 90% of your posts are telling other posters how stupid they are, how dumb their ideas are, or how crazy they are. No solutions, just shredding people.

I've tried to help. Suggested doctors, medications and helping their community.

He's a public figure who insults obama and policy every chance he gets. His profile and ability to change things might be a little easier than all of us posting here but I wouldn't expect you to understand of any this.

That's why you and him are similar...you do here what he does out there.

I understand that you aren't a very bright guy, but that still doesn't excuse how full of shit you are.

I'm not saying that. You act as though Dr Carson was born a public figure. He wasn't. Sometimes you have to put in some work to get to a point where your voice carries some weight. What's stopping you from working to make positive changes rather than insulting "loons" on therx all day while watching cartoons in your underwear?
