Depends on why exactly you moved to Vegas. If you don't have many usable job skills, ie. education, then Vegas isn't a bad place. Problem with it is that as it continues to grow, it continues to lack real depth of professional opportunities while more and more demanding professional level salaries to afford the housing. It is being propped up by people moving into town with home equity from elsewhere, but many of these people would never be able to afford a home if they had to pay for it all with just a job around town.

The only reason to be there is to gamble!!

If you figure the system out, you should be able to do very well gambling there.

mama always told me "son, it's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt"

Many of you posters should heed this advice.

Ellen sounds more and more like a very well versed gal to me.

Vegas has gone to complete chicken-shit and won't tolerate anyone winning much.

Not for long anyway!

NJ Packer,

Enjoy your stay in Vegas. For the good things in Vegas, yes listen to Fishead. Mt Charleston is fabulous, i might also recomend Red Rock Canyon just outside of Summerlin and Zion in Utah. The things I enjoyed about Vegas were the 24 hour life of the city, world class dinning, great concerts and shows every month, tons of great golf. The things I disliked were of course crime, smog and the rising crime rate.

The friendliest people I met there happened to be from NJ, NY and Cleveland. Best of luck to you. This is the only pieceof advice you will need to succeed: Work Hard! Vegas is full of people who think it will be easy street and rewards hard work fast. Go get em!

I'm not entirely sure where all the negativity comes from, but I lived in Vegas for 2 years and had the time of my life. I will eventually return, even if just for the summers.

Well I'm butter so lets top off this bread with a tid bid about fisheyes traffic ...

Survey: Traffic congestion piling up

There's a reason for those headaches motorists get while driving in the Tampa Bay area.

TampaSt. Petersburg ranks among the top 25 cities with increasing traffic congestion according to a nationwide study by the Texas Transportation Institute.

Among Florida cities, Miami ranked fourth, followed by Fort Lauderdale at 15th, Orlando at 24th and Tampa-St. Petersburg at 25th. Nationwide, Atlanta took the top spot.

The report indicates delays during peak travel times between 1990 and 2002 in the Bay area increased from 30 hours annually to 45 hours annually.

A rising number of delays also were reported in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Fort Myers, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach-Boca Raton.

To all who posted in a positive manner for vegas i would like to know if you have young children? Im guessing no.I lived in one of the best areas in vegas and it is more dangerous then the worst neighborhoods surrounding me now. As for cost of living, it's quickly catching up with the rest of the usa.Much happier where i am now with 2 small kids.I will still visit but its not a place for families.no way.
