Didn't start much different in 2010 iirc ^<<^

Unless they change their policies, that crap probably never will change. Just because they still think a UEFA governed referee from let's say Italy or England would favor f.e. Germany in a match vs Brazil because Germany is part of the UEFA...but at the same time putting in refs that aren't even close to being in the same class.
At least the Spain/Netherlands game later on should see decent officiating by Howard Webb unless he shows the same player three yellow cards again :missingte

Soccer is the easiest sport to officiate with the worst calls.

The worst of all is at the end of the periods were the refs keep the clock on the field.

No reason they should not add time to a clock everyone can read.

Whats to stop the refs from saying time is up right when a team is on a break away for a goal?

Strongly disagree with that: In Baseball/Football and also Basketball it's way easier for officials to position themselves, even before the play and they only have a very limited space to cover. In soccer a turnover and quick pass/long ball changes the position of the ball immediately and it's way harder to quickly get into the right position, so that you get the best possible angle to make the right call.
In case of the 3 huge blown calls so far, that shouldn't be any excuse. But with all those missed ball/strike calls or blown calls on the bases in MLB, or questionable/wrong calls on pass interference or whatever in football, I wouldn't rate the level of officiating there higher than in soccer, esp. when you don't base it on performances by refs like so far in the world cup, who aren't top level material.
There are NFL refs who have pretty much just to watch & judge a CB/WR duo, already positioning themselves before the play and still don't make the right call, so how could anybody expect a soccer ref to get everything right, when he is almost always 10-20m away from the ball and will almost always be slightly out of position, even if he does everything right.

another bad call the resulted in a PK and a goal by Spain. No way that was a foul. Not complaining as much here because for once that worked out well for my bet.

But Still...

Rooting for NED like always and agree, that should have been a no call. Defender slides well in front of him and he steps on the defender, initiating the contact. Otherwise a well officiated game though, especially by the assistants (offside calls) and keeping the complaining by the Spaniards down for most part.

Other than a game changing PK call it was a well officiated game??

Yes, because the penalty is questionable but there was contact. If it had been a blatantly wrong call, there would have been way more protesting by the Dutch, instead there were almost no complaints.
A questionable call, people might disagree on, is different from a wrong call...

I've got a buddy of mine who is a FIFA ref (lives in Florida). He's doing the Colombia vs. Greece game.

we all know international soccer is the most curropt sport, some guys don't even try to hide it and how many refs have been sent backing over the years?

think about it, some ref from a third world country makes 20k per year (give or take), he's offered 500k or maybe 1 million to throw a game, think he gives a shit they sent him home?

he's laughing all the way to the bank
