Strongly disagree with that: In Baseball/Football and also Basketball it's way easier for officials to position themselves, even before the play and they only have a very limited space to cover. In soccer a turnover and quick pass/long ball changes the position of the ball immediately and it's way harder to quickly get into the right position, so that you get the best possible angle to make the right call.Soccer is the easiest sport to officiate with the worst calls.
they need more than one ref.Strongly disagree with that: In Baseball/Football and also Basketball it's way easier for officials to position themselves, even before the play and they only have a very limited space to cover. In case of the 3 huge blown calls so far, that shouldn't be any excuse. But with all those missed ball/strike calls or blown calls on the bases in MLB, or questionable/wrong calls on pass interference or whatever in football, I wouldn't rate the level of officiating there higher than in soccer, esp. when you don't base it on performances by refs like so far in the world cup, who aren't top level material.
There are NFL refs who have pretty much just to watch & judge a CB/WR duo, already positioning themselves before the play and still don't make the right call, so how could anybody expect a soccer ref to get everything right, when he is almost always 10-20m away from the ball and will almost always be slightly out of position, even if he does everything right.
Rooting for NED like always and agree, that should have been a no call. Defender slides well in front of him and he steps on the defender, initiating the contact. Otherwise a well officiated game though, especially by the assistants (offside calls) and keeping the complaining by the Spaniards down for most part.another bad call the resulted in a PK and a goal by Spain. No way that was a foul.
