This could be a fun game. Lots of scoring perhaps. Could easily see both teams in 30's perhaps.

this is the worst the bowl committee could have done IMO. Who cares about another FSU-Miami matchup? What makes it any different this time around? You can see that every year. I think they would have done a lot better with FSU against K St or OSU...but this really sucks.

JDeuce,

I know that this is a repeat of the game already played this year between Miami and FSU, but IMO i think this might be one of the top 2 or 3 bowls.

These teams hate eachother, there will be so much emotionn on the field. Each team will HAVE to win to succeed in recruiting this year.

This game is great because why would FSU or Miami be interested in playing OSU or KSU. More emotion will be in this matchup.

living here in Arizona all i can say is that the fiesta is thrilled to have a matchup of K.State & OSU. The champion from last year against a team that just knocked off the potential champ this season.also these two schools travel well.

WOW - Sorry guys. I KNOW I saw an FSU/KSU match-up posted right after 5:30 . I was happy to see it wasn't another FSU/Miami game. My bad.

not even close to being true ---- there's plenty of talent in Florida, Miami already has a bunch of verbals and FSU's got some good ones as well and will close hard like they do every year ... this game will have NO effect on how recruiting will go

maybe that's your opinion, but most every 'Cane and 'Nole I know thinks that the matchup SUCKS ..... we'd much rather play either of the other 2 teams you mentioned ---- Bowls are normally a "reward" ... and unless you're playing for a national title, it's not normally a crucible of intensity ... and that's what this game ALWAYS is ---- also, when you consider that the AD's of both schools were given the word that there wouldn't be any re-matches if they agreed to open the season on Labor Day weekend, it pretty much blows

ohh well, I guess it could be worse ... we could be in a 2nd tier bowl like the Outback

Big Daddy Nole, do you still use the standard deviation formula? There were about 6 games I thought fell in that category. All dogs.

Midwesterner: yup .... games on the performanZ system that have a bigger difference between projected score & Vegas line relative to the standard deviation:

Iowa +3.5
Tulsa +8
Houston +10.5
North Texas +4.5
Miami +2
LSU +6
New Mexico +3
Cal +3

Do you plan on playing all these games? Are there any trends that are doing well that use this formula? How has the system done for you this year? Thanks in advance.

I have not played them like I did last year ---- they haven't been anywhere as reliable as they were last season ........ in 2002 they were money in the bank

last year, just by taking the top 6 games each week based on difference between projected line and the vegas line I posted some NICE numbers

at one point last season the "pick six" was just over 70% late in the season ... ended up somewhere around 65-66%
pretty damn good when you consider that it was strictly crunching numbers and did not take motivation, weather or any other factors into account

BigPete has followed it too and he's got some pretty good stat breakdowns for different situations
I just checked out the ATS records of each of the different systems (Sagarin, Born, Howell, Kambour, etc) and they're all somewhere around 47-50% ..... pretty crappy, but that's also taking ALL of this year's games into consideration
