In one of your next articles - can you do it on a subject that a great many people here should pay attention to:

Teasing CFB games - and how truly terrible a play it is

i can't take it any more. i can only post so many times how dumb the play is - so maybe you can help me out and do an article on how awful it is to do this - and then MAYBE someone will listen.

doubt it - but i can hope!

Good points but sports betting was built on suckers. Winky is right only in the rarest of spots does teasing college games make sense and it isn't worth searching for those maybe 5 spots each year.

I posted this in a thread about your feelings on teasers:

"I disagree with winky in regards to teasers in cfb. Teasers are quite profitable in 1AA-II-III action where the lines can be quite sharp & fall very close to the #.

I also had this to say:

I do agree with him somewhat about regular 1A teasers. I think they are a good weapon to have in your arsenal. The main problem is people are guilty of teasing the "obvious" small favorites.

The games where a team looks like a lock & they are laying under 2 td's. Michigan vs Notre Dame would be a good example. Purdue when it opened at -7 vs Penn State would be an obvious game where they would tease it down to Purdue at a PK.

I think the reason why most lose with teasers is because they look to tease the "obvious" & don't like to look at the less attractive sides. One last thing I think alot of people make the mistake on is they are not paying attention to key #'s as they will tease to bad #'s like a -3.5, -7.5 etc.....

What would really be amazing if these same people playing college teasers were not playing NFL 7 pt NFL -110 ties win teasers or 6 pt even money 2-team ties win NFL teasers..............maybe the best wagers any sportsbettor can ever make offshore when everything is taken into consideration.

I think many people take what I say about these teasers with a grain of salt............THEY SHOULDNT BE!

Show me a person betting college teasers and NOT playing the type of teasers I mentioned above, and I will you show you a sportsbettor that is basically a rank amatuer overall.

NFL teasers are generally much better, but I wouldn't be so quick to count out CFB teasers altogether. ABC Islands has some special college teaser offers that can work quite nicely in the right numbers and games.

3-team, 6-pt, ties win +200 ain't bad at all. Consider teasing down certain 7 to 9 point faves, esp ones with low totals. Also looking for line value on the original number (i.e. 7.0 that is consenses 7.5). Fact is that each side in this teaser is -226. Try finding a 7.5, or even 7.0, point fav where the ML is only -226. Typical best ML on a 7-pt fave is -280, or higher. Paying -226 for a -280 ML cannot be considered truly terrible. A 3-teamer of -280's pays +150. I'll take +200 on a +150 prop any day of the week.

3-pt, 10-pt, ties win +100 are nice as well. Consider teasing down certain 11 to 13 point faves, esp with low totals.

Problem is for colleges getting the best numbers in one house. NFL lines are more uniform but in NCAA it isn't that common. Good teaser prices but giving up extra half points for them takes the value away.

Excellent point, thanks for mentioning this to the readers of the RX Mr. Bill.

Bill, that is an excellent point but it works both ways. There are SO MANY CFB games that it might not be that hard to find one shop with the best or equal to the bwst on several games that qualify well for the tease.

NFL is better for teasers, but my problem is with some who throw things out as if they can never possibly work. As Lee Corso says, not so fast my friend...

I agree completely on the point, every extra bet you are allowed to place yields an extra potential edge. I bet sparingly on many "no go" spots for others like big chalk in bases and NFL road favorites where the spots are right. That being said I would lose almost nothing dumping college teasers because I think they offer value so rarely, just like I don't understand basketball teasers. Keep it an option but use it on very limited occasions, mostly bowl games IMO

College teasers are for the birds, no need to even discuss them. Here's my 3 rules of winning when using teasers, not saying this is the only way but when you struggle in the NFL like I do then you keep it simple.

1. Home NFL teams only.
2. Tease through the entire 3 and 7 (+1.5 to +7.5, -8.5 to -2.5)
3. 2 team teaser, play -110 or less.

That's good basics for guys just starting out with teasers. Obviously there are a few select books that are worth being in just for teasers alone, I can't remember their names right now though. :toothless
