A good read...but where's the video link to see Fez doing the Safety Dance?

You just know he was prancing around his office singing it while writing this piece.

Who could forget the 83 Final? That was the year the late Jim Valvano's NC. St Wolfpack beat the heavily favored Houston Cougars led by Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, and the Phi Slamma Jamma fraternity. Great game.

wil, that was the game that got me hooked on college basketball. i still remember watching it on the 12 inch black and white tv in my room. i was in 8th grade. the whole summer, my brothers and i would play this game in the driveway immitating players. i would be derrick whittenberg and shoot bombs from the sidewalk.

Blue that was quite a game, the thing I remember thinkig at the time was if Wittenberg even hits the front of the rim, Houston wins the game. The shot that turned into a history making pass. On paper the Cougars were much the best, and obviously as history has shown they had two great players in Clyde and Hakeem.

The drama of the 83 game was great, but the game before it was the true classic. I think ESPN Classic shows it a lot, the Louisville-Houston dunkathon. That game was unbelievable.

As for the title game, the game was tied before the game winning basket so it would have been 5 more minutes of drama. Then again the score was in the 50s so that is why I remember it not being all that compelling basketball, but no one will ever forget Jimmy V.

Enjoyed the article greatly, and was on NC St, Nova, & Kansas..yet also lost Flyin Illini vs.Mich, Az vs. Okla, & G-town vs.NC in memorable Final Four semi-final wars.

Am I the only one that thought the Flyin Illini, Gumbi-Cats, & Sleepy Floyd's Hoya-Paranoya should've won titles those years?
