I'm pretty sure everyone is already infected, because of his drug dealer friend that turned after he killed him without being bitten.

+1, everyone is infected, that was revealed on TWD season 2... you die and you turn, doesnt matter the cause of death! Military will be a little overwhelmed with the whole issue (especially at nite, we saw power going off already in the whole city), my guess is that they try (unsuccessfully) to kill a big % of the infected by dropping bombs and/or napalm and that ends up making it worse in a way cause every human injured and killed by accident will turn and so on. Is the US army really able to contain something like this in the WHOLE territory (lets not forget the outbreak is worldwide and the US has more than 50% of their army offshore... in a crisis like this, I cant imagine all the troops coming back in a timely and organized fashion to secure the homeland).

Right, every WD viewer already knows every person is carrying the virus/disease --- upon death, they're going to turn. Whether the disease was acquired 4 weeks ago, or 4 years ago, who knows (and I doubt the WD creators/writers are ever going to provide the back-story).

But there's a big difference between:

1) 300M Americans carry the disease for 78 years, and then they die from heart disease, old age, or falling down the stairs. Maybe that's the next spin-off, Walking Dead + Golden Girls.
2) Over 1-2 weeks, 98% of the 300M population becomes a zombie.

Considering the military/government is already taking measures to contain the outbreak (they already know hospitals are hot-spots, and they already know body-shots aren't effective).........I don't know how we reach FZA (full zombie apocalypse), unless there are a few major fuck-up moments. Apparently these zombies can't easily kill fat, nonathletic teenagers (even after the teenager has stumbled down the stairs)......so I'm not sure how they overwhelm police/military squads. How do we get from Point A (dozens of zombies in Los Angeles) to Point B (hundreds of thousands).

These aren't 28 Days zombies........they're the slow, stupid zombies. So if you're going to show the initial stages of outbreak (and also show a relatively organized military/government response), you need to explain Point A to Point B.

And I hope they show the fuck-up moments --- maybe there is in-fighting within military (or military vs police)........or maybe the citizens revolt, allowing the zombies to take over. But it would be sloppy to fast-forward to Point B, and then just say "Now we have millions of zombies, just accept it."

You can even look to the original show/comic......Alexandria. Even before the wall, they were relatively safe from zombies. Simple stuff --- stay in the house, lock your doors, safety in numbers, be careful @ night.

And we know the Alexandria folks are relatively weak, naive, and foolish. If they could survive the zombie onslaught, it shouldn't be *that* hard. Once again, stay in the house, lock the doors. Before you cross the street, look both ways for zombies.

I'm thinking a lot of people are going to get minor bites from people they know, and may think it's nothing, before they run, which gives them the fever and speeds up the process. The Gov obviously already knows head shots are the only way to kill. I'm thinking the mass spread is already starting. Looked liked there was zombies on that plane that was landing too. L.A. has a lot of people. The big cities are going to fall fast.

I agree with this

Was saying the exact same thing while watching the show last night

Also, to me I am beginning to question the realism in the decisions the main characters are making. They better get that adjusted pretty quickly or they are going to lose me. Who leaves their door wide open when they go across the street in this situation? No one.

What is this show in relation to twd?
Is it a prequel or totally different show

It's a prequel in the sense that season 1 pretty much starts when Rick from the original TWD is being treated at the hospital for his gun wound, and the walkers start appearing in small isolated events through the USA. Right now at season 2 they are pretty much 1month
into the zombie apocalypse (Rick is porbably waking up during one of these episodes).

The locations are so different (especially during S2) that it really feels like a different show.
