The way I understand it, the virus gets on a machine, and then collects all the email addresses from emails, address books, and a few other files. It then uses it's own "email engine" to send itself out to everyone in those lists--usually being "spoofed"-meaning that inserts your email address in the "From" field.

I'm pretty sure this is the case here.

That's how they make the virus "successful"-by infecting as many machines as possible. These pricks ought to have their fingers cut off when convicted.

I routinely delete all this stuff with attachments.

For those rare times when I think might be OK (if it comes from a contact) I scan it with my computer virus scanner then forward it to myself at hotmail who will also scan it.

These Virus Creators are a joke. What's the reason of wasting time doing harm to others. I can't and probably will never understand. Just my opinion, thanks.
