Why does it not surprise me that you neglect your family and now have to make amends. Also work on getting an education and reading a few books while your on your self improvement jag. You can be the most improved because you've got the most to do. keep the T.V. off. Go visit another country preferably a third world country and open up your eyes and you mind. Rent documentaries, forieng films (have someone read the subtitles for you) and come back once your washed and part of the human race like the rest of us here.
