For The Record
THe subject of off-topic threads comes up every couple of months. During the slow dog days of summer (especially the All Star break) this forum sees more than the usual number of OT threads. Someone did a poll last year about cutting back on off topic threads and the verdict was to allow the off-topic threads to stay. I think it was WVU but am not certain.
I also addressed the matter at the beginning of Baseball with a thread.

The problem is absolutely no one likes to get their threads moved and some posters are really upset when a thread of theirs is moved. Right now the Rx.com moderators are moving what they judge to be non-topic threads to the Rubber Room, by that I mean just joke threads that really have no serious content. Other threads get moved sometimes to the appropriate forum like political threads for example.
Bottom line is we are dammed if we do and dammed if we don't. Do away with Off-topic and many posters won't like it at all - keep them and we get the occasional complaint about what does "what is your favorite snack" have to do with sportsbetting. No way to please eveyone all the time.
