Excuse my ignorance, I know Las Vegas does, but can you get down sports bets in Reno and if so what is the best book?

Nothing great for sportsbooks in Reno. The best they have downtown are: Harrahs, Cal-Neva, and the Hilton. Good Luck

I really enjoyed the sportsbook at the Hilton several years ago. Enjoyed Reno a lot as well. I recommend going in the winter as the natural beauty is awsome.

Another spot in Northern Nevada is Elko NV Red Lion Casino. They partner with Casino Express Airlines to offer very inexpensive trips which include room, airfare, baggage transfer, a buffet or two (I think).

Trips are from most major cities and are usually 2 or 3 nights for $99 - $159 per person. Comps available for qualified players.

I have been on this trip several times and I assure you it is a lot of fun!! Not real fancy hotel or casino but clean, comfortable and very friendly staff. Even have a small sportsbook in the back.

www.westernescapes.com will give you all the details. I recommend Elko in winter also. Rent a car (make sure you get front-wheel drive) and tour the countryside. It is awsome and the people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet!

VVV

p.s. Only requirement for the Elko trips is that you have to show a certain amount of cash before you board the plane. Used to be $350, so it's not a big deal. They never asked me to show my money but I have seen them ask a few people.
